Best value phono $1-1.5k I have demoed it here in my own system, compared to my (upgraded caps, nude Vishay loading resisters and other tweeks) Trumpet. As you might expect, the Trumpet had that special tube magic, with a bit more textural finesse; but the Quasar was very...
New TT/cart question Could be azimuth. It could also be a tube issue either with the Pro-Ject or the Primaluna. Also, check that all the drivers are working in your Proacs by putting your ear close to each one with music playing.
Teres 260 or Galibier Serac? Thanks you, Teres, for your typically clear, clean and articulate observations.
New TT/cart question ditto.
Cartridge mount screws - stainless steel They seem to be quite difficult to find. You might try asking Mapleshade.

Thoughts on "EL-Cheapo" LP flattener? It's worked for me, but careful with the heat. I've ruined records trying to get it right. Thicker and heavier is better. I would experiment with shorter active heating time / longer cool down time with door closed.
Teres 260 or Galibier Serac? Has anyone experimented with tacky surfacing of either the belt and/or pulley and platter, using beeswax or the like? This would seem especially effective when using belts such as tape or silk rbbon that intuitively seem prone to slippage.
Best value phono $1-1.5k Heed is another option at $1k. dealer disclosure.
Grand Prix Audio Monaco Turntable Mtkhl567,I'm not taking issue with the wonders of the Monaco. I'm simply making the basic point that there are no perfect components, only different trade offs, even between VERY good designs; not to negate ANY hierarchy of quality. Neither am I t...
Grand Prix Audio Monaco Turntable Albert Porter and I compared his extensively rebuilt Technics SP10 sporting a SME 312 with his Walker Black Diamond, using identical Airtight PC1 cartridges. IMHO, the Walker "walked" all over the Technics in most respects EXCEPT for speed stabili... |
