The best part about MQA bankruptcy..
@erik_squires  We're not the slowest!! That's got to be a great vote of confidence, @philosurfer  I'm guessing that response is a change of position on it (TIC)? Or do people just want faster downloads of cat pictures? The bit compression, ...
The best part about MQA bankruptcy..
@erik_squires  The US lags behind the rest of the world due to it's insistence on capitalism uber alles.  Performance per community and cost per connection varies a great deal here, but MQA is an elite product. Well, that link shows (if you re...
The best part about MQA bankruptcy..
I have a Meridian system, and the MQA from Tidal sounds a bit thin, although the ones with Studio rating tend to sound fine; the MQA from Qobuz sounds much better, but the recordings are so rare that when I asked them about it the respondent seeme...
The best part about MQA bankruptcy..
@erik_squires Re: worldwide internet speeds, I don’t know where [everyone writing about this] gets their information. Here’s a source from which I’d argue that compression is still very useful (are we really that elite?): https://worldpopulationr...
Why do I need a switch?
This might be worth a look: https://ifi-audio.com/products/lan-isilencer/
How to trigger gear that doesn't have a trigger port (?)
Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up ordering a Belkin PF31. The Panamax looked nice but wasn't in price proportion to the devices being triggered.
How to trigger gear that doesn't have a trigger port (?)
I'm figuring the following will give me more flexibility (i.e. case closed):
How to trigger gear that doesn't have a trigger port (?)
@cleeds Thanks for that. The Meridian trigger out is 3.5mm, so I’d just strip the other end and plug a small strip into that unit. That looks to be a version of the Niles (the parent company apparently bought Niles) and Niles also had a 3-outlet u...
Streaming Services
$.02 on some aspects of the discussion: I’m of the opinion that a streamer should be for delivery only, as the DAC aspect is best served by my system’s flavor (so there’s no reason to pay for a DAC built into a streamer; the streamer’s purpose is...
streaming and audiophile stereo
@bill_peloquin I do not want to get a streamer with a DAC. I have a great one now. No need to pay for another DAC. I’m with you, there. I’d long ignored streaming, for the most part (had an original Bluesound node but rarely used a streaming se...
Quobuz subscription
@nomorelandings - thanks for that suggestion. You can also search for "2L — The MQA Experience (Compilation)" --- another nice recording.
streaming and audiophile stereo
@twilightround  - I'm in agreement with those who suggest a measured, simple approach. If you want to get the most out of Tidal, you have a couple of options. You don't mention your budget, so I won't suggest gear (I wouldn't, anyway; each situati...
How much should I spend on a new DAC
I much prefer this pov: how little can I spend and still be happy with the SQ (obviously no DAC is going to "fix" any other problems in my system, including the room)?  With current trends re: (mostly far east) DACs, I feel there's a change in pri...
Qobuz hell
@grislybutter Re: the chat window, I’ve used it before - you just have to wait. The times I’ve used it, they got back to me within one business day. They're in France, so you have to keep the time zones in mind.
Qobuz hell
Yes, Qobuz definitely needs to work on their customer service. I'd saved a link:  but now it's different, but I can still get to a contact point via a lot less trial and error. Regarding the service, I didn't like their Windows interface ...
