Plinius class A vs. class AB sound difference? To elaborate on my response - I agree with Jayctoy's description, after reading this post I listened to my amp in class ab for a few nights and was less involved in the experience than in class a. It is nice to be back to class a, it is more liqui...
Where are you? Do you know what your FM is doing? BTW the station I listen to is WIDR, the Western Michigan University college station and the sound quality is good on my Rotel tuner but still down a notch from my Sony 9000 DVD player.radio is hard to beat for new music and WIDR is supposed to be...
Magnepan vs. Martin Logan 120 watts is minimum for Maggies if you want even close to realistic listening levels, that said, my 1.6s have a glare and I think my room (13 x 22 x 8) needs to be bigger or I need more curtains. I really like these speakers and my Plinius with 1...
Good 6550/KT88 tubes you can change the sound quality by replacing the 12AX7 input tube. I used Mullard CV4004 in my 120s and the sound was warmer and fuller in the midrange though a little less extended.hope this helpsPhil
Plinius class A vs. class AB sound difference? My SA100 MKIII has just the slightest amount of grain in AB mode that is gone in A mode, also in class A there seems to be better definition, or maybe it is my imagination, it is that close. It sounds superb in both modes (driving Maggie 1.6s).
From tubes to solid state. What do you loose... I switched from a Rogue Magnum 120 to a Plinius SA100 MKIII and I do not miss it. I listened to tubes for 20 years and this Plinius has made a believer out of me, solid state if done right, is great.
Where are you? Do you know what your FM is doing? The college radio station near my home kicks out a lot of 'alternative' music and I listen all the time for the constant refreshing and new songs they play. The sound quality is quite a bit better than the commercial stations and with my little Ro...

Who is your overall favorite guitarist? Hendrix had the best tone and the best combination of rock, blues and jazz all wrapped into a sound all his own - mesmerizing.Pat Metheny in concert is truly awesome, he builds his rythems into a giant cresendo and often the rest of the band is pl...
IXOS versus Harmonic Technology Instead of Harmonic Technology maybe you could try Robert Lee's newer company Acoustic Zen. Their 'value' cable the WOW is very good at $250 meter and it only gets better from there.

magnepan 3.6 QR stands for Quasi Ribbon which is the midrange driver for the 3.6
are there 2-ways that go down flat to around 40? Maggie 1.6 have been measured to about 36hz. |
