Speaker input, which one, Magico, Avalon, Yg, Rock Sunnyboy - a second REL G1 is on my list. Getting a new preamp in the next few months first.
Speaker input, which one, Magico, Avalon, Yg, Rock You may want to consider purchasing a REL G series (G1 or G2) sub. They can be seamlessly dialed in with Avalons (see my system page). I have my REL G1 crossed over at 28 HZ and have its volume turned up to only 8 (scale 0-40). It give just that n...
Heads Up: ARC is introducing the new SP-20 in Fall My ARC Ref Phono 2SE is super quiet, even for low output carts. Its as quiet as my solid state Rowland Cadence. Not sure about ARC's other phono stages, but the Ref's are fantastic!
Avalon Indra, Eidolon, Opus comparison Your room is a bit small for the Eidolons. Indras or Opus would be much better. Never heard the Indras but the Opus a great speakers for your sized room. But the Indras did replace the Opus in the line I believe.
Whats on your turntable tonight? Albert,Do you have Brendan Perry's solo LP's 'Eye of Hunter' and 'Ark'? If not, you are missing two more great records in DCD style.
Upgrading from Thiel CS3.6 to Avalon I agree with the post above - 17x13x8 is a tad small for the Eidolons. Avalon Opus plus a well integrated sub would be great. I have previously owned Thiel 3.6's. Avalon's are world -class. Unfortunately Thiels are good, but not great. It will be ...
Remember the year and first vynil you ever bought? Embarrassingly it was in 1973 and was Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting. The single was the only good songon the whole LP!Soon thereafter, was Elton John - Captain Fantastic. That was the first album I played over and over and over. It was 1975 I th...
New VPI anti-static mat for Classic Platter My understanding was it was too expensive to keep making acrylic platters or super platters, hence the all-aluminum platter. A few years ago I compared an acrylic platter, super platter and all-aluminum platter on the same VPI table and system. I ...
Audio Research Corp Ref 5 SE When I replace my Synergy IIi with an ARC Ref 5SE, I will call Tom and let him know my situation. Again, glad I cam across this post.
Audio Research Corp Ref 5 SE Bif,I'm glad I came across this and thanks for your input on the postings regarding the impedance buffer from Tom Tutay. Here is what I got:Main 1 (ARC Ref 250) 200,000 ohms X Main 2 (REL Gibraltar Sub) 10,000 ohms/(Ref 250) 200,00 ohms + (REL G1)...
Audio Research Corp Ref 5 SE Two comments - First, I have around 150 hours on my Ref 250 amps and my Ref Phono 2SE and what I have noticed is an not so subtle improvement in transparency and sweetness in the highs. The bass out of the box was really great. Right now, it may h...
New Raven AC Owner My manual says the motor pulley to spindle distance should be 340-350 mm. I think I have the long belt.
Understanding Gain in the ARC Ref Phono 2 SE Dctom - The Ref 2 SE is super quiet. At a volume turned up to a meter level of 40/60 on my Rowland Synergy IIi and the high gain setting noisefloor is only audible when placing your ear a few inches away from the tweeter/mid. In low gain, still si...
Understanding Gain in the ARC Ref Phono 2 SE I prefer the ARC over the Cadence in my system. The Cadence is fanstastic. Super quiet but with my system a tad on the dark side. The ARC give much better continuity to the soundstage and all the good tube- stuff. Plus much better dynamics and amb...
