$1200 vs $200 cd players
Hi-enders will tell you there are major differences between cdps...the real truth...digital technology has improved to the point that the differences between such budget players and hi-end players is marginal at best...ofcourse they will inform yo...
Dayton titantic sub owners....
ANd this is a sealed enclosure...correct? I am primarly considering this or the Adire Rava
Cables for B&W and Rotel system.
For what its worth...my local dealer...who carries B&W and rotel...offer Nordost,MIT,and a few others...I prefer the NOrdost line...not for everyone...but very open, fast, and detailed...good luck..
Will Creek 5350 SE drive Magnepan 1.6QR?
THis thread is getting a bit heated which is fun!...at any rate...Maggie bass has improved over the years...does it rival convential cones,etc?...thats up to the beholder...and yes the 1.6s are rated to 40hz...but set up properly and in the approp...
Will Creek 5350 SE drive Magnepan 1.6QR?
My dealer has the Bryston b-60/Maggie combo...used it would be in your price range...and very good bass response from the Bryston...
Speakers with forward midrange?
by forward...I take it you mean 3-d sounding midrange(front to back depth)...the best I have heard...especially on vocals(which is the true test)...GMA Europas...the best Monitor AUdio speaker I have heard...studio 2s....good luck...
Vintage Advents too big for small room?
ALso...one has to except that truly deep bass such as the advents will not be the strenght of a small monitor...however...a small speaker will image better, have improved transparency, and can be very involving in a more "audiophile" way...vs. "vi...
Vintage Advents too big for small room?
I agree...try to find a monitor that doesnt sound thin or bright....Castle RIchmonds are very rich, musical, spacious, and fairly easy to drive...the B&W 601 is also a good choice...both at around $500 new...well below used...another good choi...
GMA Europas vs N805s in small bedroom 9.4'x15'x8'
If I am interpreting this correctly...the Europas would go on the short wall(just under 10ft)...if this is the case...the Europas might be too tight...they really omit a ton of sound...which is one their strengths...just for the record I own them....
Arcam A85 / EPOS ESL3's sounding too Bright
All good suggestions...however changing amps, cables, etc would be marginal compared to selecting a new speaker...perhaps one with a softer top-end...such as castle richmond(soft dome tweeter)...this would guarantee easy listening...and very afforda...
Listening Fatigue
OUt of phase speakers IE> poor crossover network....
50hz deep enough?
I must chime in as someone who has always owned monitors...even in "larger" rooms(such as my current 20 x 16 room)...at any rate...the majority of listeners often have a speaker that is WAY bigger than needed in real room applications....part of t...
Need help w/ B&W CM2
If the B&Ws sound harsh with the NAd...they will sound even more bright with about any ss other amp in its price class...the NAd has a very soft top-end...I would avoid Rotel, etc...if your friend is die-hard about keeping the B&Ws...your ...
Advice.. Integrated vs Seperates - Low Budget..
As I used to have a system very similiar...Quads and NAD...I would have to disagree...one of the sonic strenghts/traits of NAd amps is soundstaging...true they are not the last word in detail or bass extension...but they do get the midrange right....
CD Players Getting Better?
My suggestion...no need to even spend that much...newer MusicHall or others in the $500 range would more than meet your needs while all the hi-rez or next hi-rez format "shakes out"...
