Live infectious funk jams....quality recordings
THanks 2 all! keep the funk coming!
Is music quality moving away from the "audiophile"
I wouldnt judge the state of recordings on the current Metallica offering...they are what they are...a huge metal band...so naturally they are going to gear their product to their base(mainstream) audience....this is no slam on the band...it is wh...
good speaker with Sound stage behind????
Brit speakers are typically more forward than US speakers...Vandies,thiel, and Magnepan come to mind
U2 reissues
Although Steve Lillywhite did do some mixing on the Joshua tree as well...mostly some of the singles such as "with or without you", "where the streets have no name",etc...love em or hate em...steve does have a knack for mixing a hit song...and som...
U2 reissues
True...the more recent U2 recordings have been especially "hot" sounding....these are intentially tailored to the commercial mainstream crowd...however...as noted...JOshua Tree sounds very good (at least the remastered 07 edition)...way better tha...
Maggies
I would agree...although you are sold on the Mags...and granted when properly assembled and with the correct material(vocals, small jazz ensemble, acoustic, etc)they can sound amazing...however...there are plenty of more conventional speakers...that ...
Denon 1650 v Rotel 975, 971 or Apollo
I compared the 1650 vs the original planet a few years back and the Denon won handily in my home trial...however... the apollo is supposed to be far more nuetral and transparent than the older Regas...one thing the Denon does far better than most ...
Budget preamps less than 3 bills......winner is?
Agree the NAd 1600 is nowhere near state of the art...but for the money and then some...it is a very competent performer...i have heard much more pricey preamps that were a lateral move or a step down...but to each his own!
Good sounding 70's live LPs...
thanks...picked up Feat WFC, Supertramp, and ABB Eat a peach!...im a happy camper...audiogoners rule!
The Best Sounding Beatles CDs
Agree...Love cd is stellar...too bad the Beatles current catalogue on CD is not up too snuff...how bout the RED and BLUE comps on Vinyl? Decent sound?
Regular Blue Note reissues quality?
Im pretty happy with Coltrane Blue Train...this was extremely well recorded to begin with...so kinda hard to screw this one up...and for $10 bucks a no brainer...
Returning to REO's "Hi-Infidelity".....
NIce...I was expecting some flaming...actually song for song..."U cant tune a piano..." is the best REO LP...includes Rollin with the changes...and Time for me 2 fly...and the great jam TUrkey trot...in all seriousness...comparing Journey,Styxx,Ka...
NAD, and Vandersteen
Although i have never done this...on paper... a lively Brit amp such as a Naim, Creek or Musical Fidelity in theory would be a nice match...might have to go used to do this...but well worth the effort IMHO...if funds are tight...Rotel comes close ...
NAD, and Vandersteen
Most Nad intergrateds do provide both out and main jacks...they did on the C350 amp I used to own...what a great little amp...and yes Nad mates well with Vandies....as my local dealer often pairs them both...Nad has a big and bold presentation...v...
Cassette decks....reliability and build quality...
thanks folks...as always great responses...leaning towards the laptop/usd a/d approach at the moment...never thought of that...would i be able to record the signal from my analog tuner/preamp...or use the included tuner in the usb a/d product...wh...
