Speaker placement at dealers
Would have to agree with both Bigtree ..in regards to Vandersteen...few dealers let alone owners know how to intergrate these into a room...a buddy of mine who knows his stuff went Maggies...but swears by Vandersteen if you dont want a sub...I aud...
Speaker placement at dealers
I find it amazing that even owners with very good equipment have speakers buried in a corner with "lamp cord" wire as an interconnect...I am by no means an expert...but if you went into 9 out of 10 homes...90% of the households would have speakers...
The plight of SACD....
If anything...the public has already made their choice...and with success of the ultra-compressed MP3 format,A/V receivers, and CD burners...the quality of sound has taken a back seat...convenience,portability,compatability,and cost are the drivin...

Stephen...your right...I was thinking of the Creek 4330 mkII amp..which goes for $600...roughly the same as the NAD c370..sorry for the confusion...

I would have to disagree with you there...the NAD intergrated...or for that matter any entry level intergrated from Rotel,Rega,Creek, and even Cambridge AUdio...will sound better than all but the best AV receivers...AV receivers are about "bells an...
Mission 780 good value?
For small rooms...really hard to surpass Spendors or the new Quad L series...SPendors are more well known in the States...and their current 3/5 is an updated version of the legendary ls 3/5a...very open and full sounding for such a small speaker.....
Should I buy "NEW" spker technology or "OLD"??
The speaker world is one of gradual improvements....most hi-end compaines dont "reinvent the wheel" with every new offering...however...over 2 or 3 incarnations...wich is generally a 10yr span...the improvements will be more profound...I recently ...

Tony brings up a good point...the real mass market future in digital audio is...for better or worse... the videocomponet and multi-sound...that is what will "drive" the consumer's decision to leave redbook behind...again ...the irony being the lat...

If the bass is too strong...try pulling your Tannoys into the room a bit more...in a small room....even a foot or so can make a big improvement...I personally like soundstage depth...but then again...I live alone...and have monitors in the middle ...
Sony SCAD Stopped WOrking
Older Sony units are notorious for this...better to upgrade than to fix it....
The plight of SACD....
To be perfectly honest...I have never been thrilled about analog or current redbood playback ...they both have drawbacks...not surprisingly...the majority of the analog community has dismissed SACD as another "smoke and mirrors" digital marketing ...

NHTs are not the most efficient speakers on the planet...but they do have good bass...largely due to their sealed enslosure designs...as far as an amp...I would agree with some posts...the Creek is not a "rocker/rap" type of amp...for a less "refi...

If you want to leave your amp "on" all the time...opt for Class A sound...both Creek and Musical fidelity make superb Brit intergrated amps...both in your 2k range...I sold my older Musical Fidelity amp in a momentary lapse of reason...and my syst...

Digital supporters...please read the following post...www.iar-80.com/page38.htmlthis was way too long winded and technical for me..is this guy on crack or what?
The plight of SACD....
The irony is...the new hi-rez formats...or for that matter...any new digital format...is going to be decided by HT...where testing for 3-d imaging is done with Free Willy 2...instead of 2 issues...multi has 5 or 6...doesnt look promising folks....
