Klipschorn: Still relevant?? Robm321, I guess that depends on what people are currently using. I think I have a nice pair of speakers but, want to move to SET amps. My current speakers won't work well with low powered speakers and I need a reasonably priced pair of high effic...
Klipschorn: Still relevant?? I just wanted everyone to know I appreciate the passionate responses and am digesting them all thoroughly.
Klipschorn: Still relevant?? Onhwy61; Well, I was hoping no one would ask me that. Because, I don't have a good answer. There is some truth in the observation however that I'm just changing to change. I'm mostly curious. I don't have a HiFi store near me, I've never been to a...
Klipschorn: Still relevant?? Onhwy61; "...,no - the Klipsch will not be better than what you have if by better you mean higher levels of fidelity." Yes, that is exactly what I mean. This is getting to the point of my original thread. Can you please expound on this a bit? What...
Klipschorn: Still relevant?? Well, it certainly appears that the Khorns are worth a try. I'm going to listen to a pair this weekend I think. For those of you who have or are willing to chime in, can you comment on how fussy they are with regards to room and placement?
Klipschorn: Still relevant?? Telescope - thanx for the insightful words. One question that comes to mind after reading your post is; is there any meaningful way to determine what the "right" amp is? I've heard that quite a few times now.MacDadTX - Thank you too, if you check ...

Best SACD player under $1500? Despite noting your desire to NOT go with a larger company, I would recommend the Marantz 8260. I have not had any issues. In Stereophile's Recommended Components for two years running. Plus, it's WAY under $1,500. Put the extra dough in software ...
What is Audio Researches best preamp period Why does it have to be ARC?? That doesn't make any sense.
Best speakers 2,500 can buy. Von Schweikert VR4JR. No question.
Cary SLM-100 Bias in Triod Mode SNS, thanx. In fact, one set of tubes ddid get all excited (really bright) before the fuse blew. I changed all eight power tubes and was OK for a few days. Since then, with the different (not NEW) tubes experienced blown fuse twice. I didn't notic...

KT88 single ended amp recommendations please There is no such thing as a KT88 SET amp. SET is an acronym for Single Ended Triode. Triode refers to the tube. The KT88, along with it's cousin, the 6550, is a tetrode tube usually used in a push-pull design - not single ended.
Recommendations on Integrated Amps I had the Marantz PM7200. It has been in the Stereophile Recommended components the last two years. It is 95wpc and only about $500! Nice.
monoblocks for von schweikert vr2? I have the VSA VR4JRs and am using Cary SLM-100 monoblocs and love it. There is a pair of CAD-100 monos on A'gon right now for $1,100 - worth considering I think. |
