One Month Music Discoveries
Craig, and anyone else who might be interested in women singers (non-operatic), I have previously mentioned the best ever, Barbara Keith, and Delores Keane, who Maura O'Connell calls the Queen of all the Irish women singers.I was introduced to Bar...
One Month Music Discoveries
If "No Boundaries" is the name of the latest thing released and wasnt produced by Chris Biondo, my understanding is (1) it's absolutely horrible, and (2) Eva's family didnt want it to be produced and would appreciate it if you didnt buy it.There a...
UPS or should I Say Oooops
I have never had a problem with UPS. No Damage, no misdeliveries. My UPS guy opens my downstairs gate and carries packages upstairs in front of my door to leave them out of sight if they look like computer or stereo equipment. All of the stuff my ...
TEACH ME ABOUT BI-WIRE
Nobody is more skeptical of bi-wiring than I am. Even the designer of my speakers, who put bi-wire terminals on the speakers, doesn't really support the idea. But, but. For some strange reason that has no logical basis in science my speakers sound ...
Cables length ?
Do you mean inches (") or feet (')?? As Dbw and Jostler say, timing is not an issue. Try figuring out how long it would take a signal to travel 14 feet at say half the speed of light. But the load seen by each side of your amplifier may differ if t...
Suggestions for filling speakers stands?
Jonny Cat unscented kitty litter. Its cheap and available at your local supermarket. It isnt as heavy as lead shot or sand, though, if you need to add weight to the stands.
Radio Shack Gold interconnects?
Tejo, I would try the Radio Shack website. www.radioshack.com, click on tv/audio.video not wire and cable. Under audio you'll find part no. 42-2602, 3 ft cables. Under antennas & video, then cabling if you search, you'll find some a/v cables t...
cd players with volume control
The accuphase is great stuff, if you can afford it. And Ive sure never heard of a single cd recorded at too low a level. They're all too loud. But I had the impression that Yamski is a college kid on a tight budget. Denon 1650ar, Pioneer something ...
Attention Scientists, Engineers and Na-s
Jostler, I never presumed they would sound different. I dont know of any reason why they would. They just do. But you bring up a question Ive been meaning to ask. Why would the volume level be different from one wire to another. Speaker cables or ...
TEACH ME ABOUT BI-WIRE
Yes, try connecting wires to both sets of terminals and leave the jumpers in (belt and suspenders), and compare the sound to biwiring without the jumpers. If biwiring makes sense, I think (and as everyone knows, I could be wrong about this) you sh...
TEACH ME ABOUT BI-WIRE
Hey Sedond, try leaving the jumpers in place (be very careful not to cross plus and minus), or as Jon Risch suggested in another forum, just the jumper for the "negative" side. First, if the sound is the same with both jumpers in, I would assume b...
ok, now i just need to pick one
I would guess that the acurus is "better," but how old is the one you're looking at? All of these components impose some coloration and choosing one without knowing your speakers or source (I assume cdp) it's just difficult to say. I suggested a N...
college kid needs help with budget amps
I think a NAD integrated makes a lot of sense, used with more power if your speakers are inefficent, or new C350 if efficient, and you should have enough left over for a pair of headphones, say the Grado 150 (I think) for about $125. Headphones ar...
Best Male Singers of the 20th Century
Merle Haggard. I ignored this thread thinking it was all about opera types. Sam Cooke as someone says above had the best voice and comes in second in my book. Merle Haggard.
Attention Scientists, Engineers and Na-s
Remarkable. No way to respond without seeming sarcastic. I'm sure Detlof didnt think I was suggesting that speaker cables were tested with headphones. I dont even know how you'd do that.Lots of people believe and argue that all interconnects sound...
