PSB surround and center speakers.
personally I'd next go for a sub and then surrounds. for those I'd go cheapest of your above mentioned choices. then I'd get a center If I thought I still needed it and for that I'd get one with a matching tweeter or better yet all drivers, to the...
Budget Cables for Budget setup - pls advise
blue jeans +1 but include their locking bananas. avoid the monster or rocketfish bananas from best buy or whatever. the BJ units are much more robust. I went 10 gauge as well and had no bend radius issues. I assumed that within reason bigger wire ...
cd's/SACDS to test highs?
if you can, try bluray options as well. lots of movies with very detailed sections. the first sherlock holmes leaps to mind with several sections of high jingley things and detailed sounds.
Is a DAC still needed?
I would suggest that its only a matter of time before the dac becomes the audio source and the cd player is a historical oddity like 8 tracks. not sure I see much logic in spending lots of money on a CD player. Course thats just me but I bet that ...
Tweaking within the system
if i understand correctly you also raised your sub by putting extra stuff under the feet that were not there before. wonder if the extra space for the passive radiator made a difference.
Speakers to compliment McIntosh MC452 and MC 205
I heard some KEF reference units (the 201/2 as I recall) that sounded very good. seemed a good paring.
12 Extremely Disappointing Facts About Popular Mus
it may be less the population changing than additional segments of the population getting involved with a twist of technology. I doubt many 12 year old girls had money to buy tickets to a LVB concert back inthe day. Now they have hundreds of milli...
Wall mounts for ERA D5's
one 8mm bolt is more than strong enough for this. you really dont want to know how may big things are held in place by just a couple of these. Now that aside I see on amazon that the omnimount20.0 mounts to a 3/8-16 thread. May want to double chec...
Oh My, power outages,help
used to live in a stupidly active lightning and power issue area. Would up having everything of value on battery backup. Still need to unplug them if lightning is there but for power drops it made a big difference and is not that expensive. As you...
Has LED caught up to Plasma?
interesting that we are happy when a tv lasts 8 years now.
Wall mounts for ERA D5's
Jprinz I dont think Peachtree or signal path or whatever actually sells brackets. I know the center channel comes with one but I dont recall that being an option for the D4/5 series. I guess you could trek to Home Depot or something and buy a shel...
Recommend blue-ray player w/ lots of functions?
not exactly sure what other functions you have a interest in but perhaps a PS3 would work for you. No idea how it scopes in the BD.CD/DVD playback quality world but you can do lots of stuff with it like web streaming and SACD. just a thought. igno...
Rolling Stone top 100 Guitarists - Howe/Van Halen
now that this has been sorted go have a look at the rock and roll hall of fame and be even more puzzled.
best wood for speaker cabinets ? oak, cherry, balti
why not guitar wood? THe electric guitar world (some of it anyway) is obsessed with tone sustain. Strum a chord or a note and it just keeps ringing one forever. Now very nearly everyone feel that several factors contribute to this but the body woo...
Power Cord for Power Conditioner
Lacee: I think perhaps that it would be more correct to say that it is beyond the realm of science available to the audio industry. Keep in mind that science costs money. If you have a couple million bucks and a climate controlled facility (few mi...
