Help buying fullrange speakers for $1500 one things you may want to consider is what you will do next. FOr example it sounds like you want a 2 channel system right now. All things equal with $1500 you can get some very nice speakers, especially if you can go used. Now do you think you wi...
AudioQuest DBS Field Kijanki what I was getting at (maybe incorrectly) is that the dissolution or relaxation of the temporary dipole for dielectric materials should be fairly fast given the equations I've seen. Now to be clear as this is not my field of expertise I am...
Toslink Question ? fiber dispersion is basically a smearing of the bit signal. THink of a square wave pulse with the squares getting more rounded, lengthened, and lower amplitude. Note that the leading edge does not smear forward (ie speed up) but the trailing end s...
good stand speakers with good low end One of the guys at Stereophile (John Marks maybe??) said that the break between bookshelves and towers was something like $3K and everything I've seen myself supports that within reason.
AudioQuest DBS Field so in this case the right question (or maybe next question) to ask is what is the dipole creation and dissolution time in this sort of material and how does that compare to speaker signal timings? I suspect that we are talking 10-12 ish seconds or...
Toslink Question ? zero chance that a TOSlink fiber induces jitter. if anything you will see fiber induced dispersion (much different than jitter) and likely only over really long runs. +1 on Zephyr's comment on the electronics on the ends doing more.
AudioQuest DBS Field been thinking about this and dug up some reference materials. I am thinking that Simply_q is kind of correct in that the physical changes to the dielectric, while they are real effects, I think even in plastics, are not likely to occur in the regi...
best towers for $3000 ? PMC GBi, B&W CM9, ERA D14, Several Totems (names escape me) Aerial 6, Dynaudio (Focus 220 and maybe one of the excite models)only ones I've heard personally. BTW I own the D14's. With good driving equipment and good recordings best of these th...
good stand speakers with good low end era d5'sI have a set in a back room and they are quite good, especially in the base department.
Room acoustics how ? My image is not centered great news T,where did you find the details on how to do this method? I googled and Binged with no result. My room blows as well but I think I have it sounding pretty good but..........
Advice for speakers under $4K for mixed use add in B&W models (CM9 and the next one up?), PMC (Gb1 I think and the next up), Pro-AC seems to be well thought of. Aerial 6, some of the Salk models, some of the totems, and I'm sure others. Note I just trying the think of small footprint fl...
Eastern Electric's new tube DAC using ESS Sabre?? Im sure this is a fine product but the is not one of us who can hear a range of 129db, likely not even half of it. specs are nice but dont get hung up on the them.
quartz as shelving i think it would be most accurate to say that the job of vibration management is a function of may variables such as freq and amplitude of the driver, weight of the load, materials used and the design. complicated enough to say that there is no on...
Digital upgrade, Why Can't I make a decision? your hesitation is more to do with buying something and having it be stale in short order thereby wasting your money right? if so then consider a strategy change to more separates instead of whole units. transport to DAC instead of a combo unit. t...
Audiophile speakers that rock well Glrtrgi I wonder if another approach would work for you. How about looking at fitting out a 4.1 system and getting the whole room immersion sort of effect going? Decent monitor in each corner with a good sub?just a thought |
