Marantz PM8005 or MM7025 for MA Silver 6's
Wise move. Welcome back to 2 channel stereo.I had a 10 plus year affair with the HT mistress only to be left constantly unsatisfied with music. I made the move back a few years ago and am sure glad I did. I'm sure you will be too brother!
Marantz PM8005 or MM7025 for MA Silver 6's
The PM8005 for sure. No contest. There is more to good music reproduction than just watts. The refinement come from the stereo pre-amp and sorry to say, the 2 channel pre-amp sections, even in pure direct modes, on most AVR's are an afterthought. ...
A heads up
$150 will get you a new AVR but not one that has a full set of pre-outs to match up with a quality amp. So I agree with Runnin too, you might as well use TV speakers. The point I was making above, is to get an AVR with a full set of pre-outs and as...
A heads up
Agreed Avgoround. Knowing that the mainstream AVR manufacturers must come out with new models every year that sport the latest and greatest features, last years models have to be closed out every Fall. And 50% or more discounts on brand new units ...
Totem Arro or Sttaf or Hawk??
You really need to tell us what amplifier you have. The impedance/sensitivity ratings of all three models are different with the Arro being the most difficult to drive; the Sttaf being the easiest. Everything else you provided, won't matter if the...
New to high end audio phono parasound p5
Welcome Woody. Just a little confused with what you mean by "with or without preamp". The Parasound P5 is a pre-amp!Are you really asking if anyone has used it with an external PHONO pre-amp as opposed to its built in phono pre-amp? It already has...
Selecting Amplifier for Vienna Acoustics Speakers.
Count me as another voter for Primare. As a VA owner, Viennas do like a lot of power. Being 4 Ohm, 91 Dbw speakers, they should thrive with the A30.2's output of 200 wpc into 4 Ohms. Also, VA's were often demostrated at HiFi shows using Primare equ...
Looking for bookshelf speakers
I'll be the third to ask what kind of amp you have. It is critical that the amp you'll be using can properly drive the bookshelf speakers your considering.Speaking of bookshelf speakers, the M106's are rear ported so they must be used with stands....
Cartridge or cable upgrade
I have your exact TT and spent around 1200 hours enjoying the Blue Point No. 2, the one I am assuming you have. Stylus wear eventually led to a change and I too replaced it with a Dynavector 10x5 that is now broken in.I am not sure what kind of so...
Getting great stereo sound from multi channel sys.
I find it a bit curious that those endorsing option 1 are not also commenting on the op's choice of speakers. The GoldenEars seem to me to be an odd choice for someone who wants to maximize 2 channel stereo performance. As one who strongly endorses...
Getting great stereo sound from multi channel sys.
There are integrateds with HT bypass available from many manufacturers - Marantz, Musical Fidelity, Creek, Arcam, Krell, are a few that come to mind. There are 2 channel preamps from Musical Fidelity, Parasound, and even Rogue if you want to consi...
Getting great stereo sound from multi channel sys.
Option 1 without a doubt. Or a slight modification to option 1 - a high quality 2 channel integrated with HT bypass for your two channel listening. This will cut down the number of components by one. You can further cut down by using an AVR as you...
29" Speaker Stands for Paradigm 20 v5 Monitors?
You have pretty good sized speakers so you need something heavy duty and that can be filled with some type of mass. If 28" height would be OK, how about these: http://www.audioadvisor.com/Pangea-Audio-DS300-Heavy-Duty-Speaker-Stand/productinfo/PGD...
HELP Monitor speakers for vintage components????
SO....what do you thinK?I think you should go out and audition as many monitor speakers within your budget as you can to find the speaker that's best for you. Questions like yours usually result in a popularity poll and you will get recommendation...
Replacement for Monitor Audio RX6
I don't think its the speakers or the amp that is making you second guess the sound your getting from your system. It's using a Marantz Pre-Pro as your pre-amp thats your problem as this is the weak link. It was designed for multi-channel sound dec...
