How does Totem do it ???
Dave b Maybe the Krell 400xi is worth a second listen for me, but with Totem this time. I listened to it with JMlab in the past. I found that combo rather dry and flat, even tho' the Krell was clearly highly competent, had tremendous bass grip and...
How does Totem do it ???
Your thread has revived my interest in Totem. Must be around 15 years ago I bought my Sttafs, and could hardly believe my good fortune at the wonderful music. I still enjoy them immensely in my second system.More recently, I've paired Reference 3a...
Anyone heard new Moon I-7 Integrated Amp?
The red light display, in the Simaudio Evolution series, is big and easy to read when you want it, but it turns right off when you don't. Still waiting for a listen of the I-7 though; a working prototype for dealer demos has been apparently delaye...
Best Integrated Amp, Price no obstacle?
Well guys, disappointment, because the I-7 was a no-show. More precisely, the SimAudio rep showed up with a non-working prototype of the 1-7; the chassis and terminals anyhow. Said they'd decided at the last minute it wasn't quite ready; e.t.a. no...
Looking for a romantic sounding monitor
I second Drubin's nomination of the Dulcets. Talk about romantic; my wife just mentioned how you could only hear music, not speakers. Unlike me, she doesn't pick up that talk from audiophile 'zines or forums (fora). I would be inclined to emphasiz...
Looking for a romantic sounding monitor
I think the Totem Model 1 Sigs fit your description; I just had a home audition over several days. Definitely more romantic and alive than hi-fi or clinical. Used pairs come up on the 'Gon around your price I believe.I was especially taken with th...
Best Integrated Amp, Price no obstacle?
This weekend, I will attend the intro of the new SimAudio I-7 at a local dealer. I'll be interested to see how it compares with the I-5, which I liked very much in my small room. Some have suggested the Plinius 9200 is similar in some respects to ...
Totem Hawks
As to improving soundstage, you might experiment with different floor-speaker base contacts. Are you using spikes on carpet, or the Claws on hardwood? Not sure what will work best for your application. I had very good results with Black Diamond Ra...
Totem Hawks
The good people at Totem also put SimAudio I5 high on their recommended list for the Hawks (in response to my e-mail to them). Plinius 9200 as well.
Small size monitor suggestions
I've had my Dulcets for about 6 months now, and they are excellent close to the wall in a near-field situation. I love their clear, direct, open-throated sound. Although I like the Totem sound very much, I think the Dulcets superior for the applic...
Tube bias and related ramblings very exciting
Whew! Best case for SS I ever heard.
Best bargain integrated amp?
I second the nomination for Naim Nait 5i. There are so many nice integrateds out these days, from budget to high-end, I doubt any one can claim to have compared them all. But I've sampled enough to say the Nait is very fine, punches above its weig...
Best female vocals on CD
Try Eleanor McEvoy 'Yola'. Wonderful.
Have Linn Classik, upgrade to int amp & cd? Naim?
I love my Nait 5i, with the Naim CD 5x. I'm budget sensitive too, but found the CD 5x worth the significant extra cost over the 5i. The Nait 5i sound is pleasingly warm and rich, without being fuzzy or flabby, just an all-around musical pleasure. ...
integrateds in the modern age: consensus?
Plinius 9100 & 9200 are definitely on my short list. I have to drive about 6 hours to hear one though, unless I care to order without an audition.
