Pairing Aesthetix Calypso w/ Pass Labs or Plinius?
I own the Calypso and a Pass 350.5, and it's a beautiful combination.
From Pass X250,5 to 350,5 : what to expect?
Having gone from 200 to 300 watts with both Levinson and Pass amps, driving fairly inefficient speakers, I can confirm that more power is better. Better dynamics, better headroom, better low-end control. The only sacrifice for these considerable b...
Has anyone updated Senn HD650 cable?
Yes, I did: Revelation Audio Labs cable. Some improvement was gained, like better resolution and increased dynamics. It's a much higher quality cable than what Sennheiser provides and worth the investment if you're a serious listener.
Pet audiophile peeves - name yours
Deadbeats who say they're going to buy something, then don't.Or, in the case of one recent lowlife from A'Gon, say they'll sell something to you at an agreed-upon price, then renege and try to squeeze you for a higher price. (This particular jerk ...
Just installed Cathedral Sound Panels
Tbg,Thanks for the English lesson (my typing skills are another matter), but I DID mean no negligible effect. As in, they had no effect that I could hear.
DIY cable cooker for power cables? Male IEC?
Hi,Actually, I have several of the cable connectors you're looking for and they work great hooked up to a refrigerator. If you're in interested in purchasing a pair or two (they're brand new) just email me.Thanks.
Help....I have a blank slate and am flying blind
Very good, Viridian. Cunning linguistics, unite!
The Irrational But Efficacious CD Tweak
I've used the Purist Audio System Enhancer which costs five times more and does essentially the same thing. Does it work? I honestly think it's no more effective than playing a dynamic piece of music or radio static the same number of hours.Tweaks...
Just installed Cathedral Sound Panels
Interesting that you got some benefit from them. I tried out a couple of pairs and found they had no neglible effect. Based on what little I know about room acoustics, the panels are physically too small to be effective bass absorbers or mitigators.
Any experience w/Guerilla Audio?
I've dealt with Jason a couple of times. Nice guy. His cables appear to be top notch. Good materials. Prompt delivery can be sketchy though. Had to nudge him several times to get things out the door.
tube pre suggestion
Tvad,Although I never got to audition an Audio Horizons pre, due to some shipping complications, I can tell you Victor and Joseph are outstanding folks. Be patient if you haven't received a reply yet, Victor volunteers his help as chief communicat...
Pass Labs XA-160 vs Levinson 33H
Both are outstanding amps and rank among the world's best. Lack of power is more of an issue with the efficiency of your speakers than preamp impedance. Have you written Pass about the amp-preamp compatibility question? They're extremely responsiv...
Vibration and Isolation at a budget?
Piedpiper,It's not cynicism if it's fact. What Mappleshade if trying to pass off as customized vibration pads are the same gizmos available for much less at HVAC supply stores. He hasn't even changed the basic ribbed surface. It's cork and rubber,...
Vibration and Isolation at a budget?
"I wonder if this is what Mapleshade uses as the source material for their Isoblocks?"You can bet on it...at many times the cost of the same ones sold at any HVAC supplier. Call it an audiophile tweak, make silly claims of proprietary design, add ...
Anyone listened to ML Vantage?
I own a pair of the Vantages and love them. Moved up from a pair of Ascent i's and can definitely hear an improvement. It's amazing how such a relatively small speaker can project such a wide soundstage. These speakers go way deep. Considerably mo...
