Equipment Warm up, but What About Listener Warm up?
I've noticed that during long listening sessions, say at the three-hour mark, the system seems to reach out and the sound starts to envelop the room, including me. Do the electronics continue to warm up even further after several hours? Or, maybe ...
Feeling Tweaky
"... the few of us who have taken it far enough all agree you cannot get here any other way."There is no doubt that each tweak adds to the effect of prior tweaks. Done properly and with a lot of experimentation, a Magical Music Machine will emerge...
Recording during the 70's
I listened to vinyl for about three hours last night. With the exception of one stereo record, all of the rest were recorded in mono. They were all original pressings.Brubeck’s "Jazz Impressions of The USA," Miles Davis’ "Round Midnight," and Chet...

Linda Ronstadt
I saw Linda Ronstadt live at the Universal Amphitheater that featured all of her songs in Spanish. I have to say, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.  My wife was Hispanic and spoke Spanish perfectly. She was really taken by the aut...

n80 ...Well, I have to admit, I had never heard of the Squirrel Nut Zippers before you brought them up. I did, however, check them out on Spotify. I listened to everything that they offered on the site. If I had to categorize their style of "jazz,...

Highly Questionable Music Suggestions.
In reading reviews in the magazines, I usually go to Spotify to check out the music used by the reviewer in reviewing the product. Most of the time, there is no way that a competent review could be given considering some of the out-right crap thes...
Jazz for aficionados
@ Orpheus ...I have that Dinah Washington recording on vinyl. Her rendition of "Blue Gardenia" is one of my all-time favorite vocals. I have quite a few of her recordings on vinyl. She’s been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. An entire li...
