Old Classic Receivers: A Mistake to Buy?
Okay ... if you want to build a bedroom or dorm system on the cheap, ched out the Sherwood 7100 or the 7100A. The 7100 is more tube-like and the 7100A is more of a solid state sound. I've had a Sherwood 7100 in my bedroom for a few years now ... t...

"All of these approaches seem valid and tend to tell more about how the purchaser views the world than about the products themselves, IMHO."Brilliant.
Who remembers the Dahlquist DQ-10's?
I first heard them at the Sound Center in the San Fernando Valley. They were playing a recording (vinyl of course) of Big Bill Broonzy. Man, that guitar was twanging the blues for real. Great speaker, indeed.

Audio Research SP9 MKII
I've heard the SP-9 a number of times in a friends system. I owned the SP-14 for many years. If you can afford it, go with the SP-14. Its a much better sounding unit. I'll bet you can pick one up at a very reasonable price these days. I sold mine ...

^^^ Personally, I believe that very few harsh words were posted in t his thread.  Here's what I think ... Because we use a keyboard to "talk," and because we can't see each other through the computer monitor, we cannot see facial expressions or ha...

^^^^ Put another way ... If there is a need, someone will recognize that need and will step in to fill it and make a fortune in the process. The consumer gets what he/she wants and the producer gets what he/she wants in return. Free market capital...

^^^ ... Nope, if you ask the guy at ARC which direction that YOU should place the fuse, he won't be able to tell you ... because he can't hear the results YOU get. He only hears the results HE gets.   :-)

mapman ...I believe you're correct in your assessment that the more resolving a system is, the more impact the "small" tweaks will have.  Early on in this thread I made the comment that eliminating micro-vibrations in a system is a must in order t...
