Most Reliable CDPs? I second Wwshull's recommendation -- besides being an excellent player -- Esoterics' have very, very good transports.
McIntosh MA7000 The April 2008 cost is up $1K to $8K. Wow!!
Has anyone tried EAT Audio tubes? IMO, KT88 response only --- they are super hyped KT88's and NOT WORTH 1/3rd their asking price. It appears a Chicago web site is tauting them as the best ever -- that's marketing BS (and they have done a good job at it). These are made at the old ...
High output MC cartridges? Go to needledoctor dot com
Shunyata Hydra I couldn't believe it either -- but the Hydra 6 costs more.
Planar close to a rear wall? Quad for example? IMO, for the newer 2905/2805, or older 989/988's they need to be further out from the wall than a foot. Some suggest 3-6 feet (check older threads -- some good info). They do better with some rear breathing room and a sound panel on the back wall.
Tubes for my Mac's 275....NOS or just used? Agree w/Thorman -- if you do not have a tube tester -- stay away from those who sell vintage plates and dolls in addition to tubes (just using an example & have nothing against vintage plates nor dolls).
McIntosh MC275 original amplifier Great comparison review. In have dual MC275A's and agree totally. Would also add for my speakers, the bass was much tighter, everything was crisper, and accurate; well balanced. No comparison with my McIntosh integrated.Whether you need one or two ...
McIntosh MC275 original amplifier Rick, the original 275's had two 12BH7 slots and had a total of 8 twelve volt tubes. As the 275 changed throughout the years (1961), it has been redesigned, to only have 7 twelve volt tubes & to have just 12AT7's and AX7's.
I was driving my wife's new 2008 Acura RDX I'd replace the battery and the power cord in the cable nest. Then give it 200 hours minimum.
power cable for esoteric I can only speak for the Esoteric -- you'll find others have their suggestions, but the older Shunyata King Cobra (Ver 1); which I had was UNBELIEVEABLE!!! Check out the Shunyata website and go for their best digital cord, that you can afford (or ...
Amp for EgglestonWorks Speakers? Using 2 McIntosh MC275A's in a mono/parallel configuration (150 watts per side) with a C2300 Preamp. Had a MA2275, integrated which worked fine; I just felt the the Andra II's needed around 120 to 130+ watts each -- sure enough, the two McIntosh a...
Blue Note 45rpm reissue I concur with all and was hesistant to subscribe to the reissues, but, hell you only live once and these are like someone pointed out treasures you'll cherish. As Davt points out, I too have muted my system as I think I hear something outside the r...
good sounding cd's My best one is Neil Young, Live at Massey Hall and I'm fond of any XRCD recorded music (alot of fakes of XRCD's out there -- I only order from JVC/FIM).My look into the revival CD. |
