VAC Ren II, VAC Phi, or ARC Ref 3?
well GuidoThankfully I have convinced you about the ARC Ref 3.Now let's get on and do some other schooling on power cords. I would like you to audition the Nordost Valhalla against your Shunyata PC's and then come on back for further discussion. I...
VAC Ren II, VAC Phi, or ARC Ref 3?
well I am with Guido on this one and, although the other preamps mentioned are truly exceptional I will bet $$$ that Guido finds audio nirvana here
Wilson Maxx 1 compared to Puppy 6
Hi PeterAs I told you by e-mail, my advice if you are going to upgrade is to go with the WP7 and not a Maxx l (unless you commit to doing a series ll upgrade. The WP7 bests a Maxx l but the Maxx ll is a superb speaker with much of the X-2 technolo...
VAC Ren II, VAC Phi, or ARC Ref 3?
"Oneobgyn - What makes you so sure there "will always be upgrades to the REF 3"? Indeed, there will be upgrades to a point. The REF 4 will come out, then perhaps the 3 will be dead-ended like the 2 was. We shall see. I think that you answered your...

Jadis JPS2 vs ARC REF 3 vs Aesthetics Calisto Sig
"From myself I can add that ARC Ref 3 is great preamp that is not like any other previous ARC model. It had best soundstage, imaging and bass resolution I ever heard from preamp."Well I am no dealer and nothing to sell as the PITA Stan and Judy se...
Tube Preamp Isolation
My experience has been a tube pre-amp is least effected by footer/isolation than any other component including my SS ampI totally disagree.Have you ever had a look at the damping rings that are put on tubes because they resonate?
Tube Preamp Isolation
I have Aurios Pro under my ARC Ref 3 as well as all my other components including my Lamm ML 2.1's. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Wilson WP7 versus X1 - Gen III and Maxx II's
Not sure what you mean by Lamm. I have the ML 2.1 driving my huge X-2's. At 18 wpc I assure you that there is plenty of headroom. It is the most musical amp that I have ever owned.
Wilson WP7 versus X1 - Gen III and Maxx II's
The other option to consider is to buy a used pair of Maxx l's which go for $15-$20K and do the Maxx ll upgrade which can be done in the field. I believe it costs ~$5500
Wilson WP7 versus X1 - Gen III and Maxx II's
I looked at photos of your room with the WP7's.If this is the room you will be using I would say that it is too small for the X-1's
Wilson WP7 versus X1 - Gen III and Maxx II's
BTW--your room size should be fine for the X-1's and/or the MaxxI also have a room with a vaulted ceiling which is heavily trapped but no deficiencies with the X-2's
Wilson WP7 versus X1 - Gen III and Maxx II's
I also have an XS but now use it only with HT and LFE. You really won't need it with the X-1
Wilson WP7 versus X1 - Gen III and Maxx II's
Having owned WP 5.1's,6's MAXX series 1, X-1 series 3 and now X-2's I feel I can comment on your question. First off if you get the Series 3 X-1's at this price it should be considered BUT I must tell you that the Maxx ll is a far better speaker, ...
