PSVANE 12Au7 12At7 12Ax7 "-T MKII" 2020 production run of small signal/driver tubes
GOAL:Find something "close enough" and hoard away all my vintage tubes. An improvement is always great too.     What constitutes a hoard? LOL I might already be there..6-800 signals 12 volt stuff, 12BH,BZ,AT,AU,AX.AZ, that I've gone through.   ...
Determining the Source of Noise when TT is On
I am sure you mean Phono input on the MX150 or MX120.From Turntable to phono input on MX Yes thank you.. gray9hound. That would be a tough one.I need to pay attention..LOL Tape out (loop) MX121 has a place for a balanced input also, noise cance...
Determining the Source of Noise when TT is On
Doesn't the MX121 have a Phono out.. It's a Mcintosh too. My MX120, and MX150, both had Phono out.. Pretty sure a MX121 has it ..Every Mac pre I have has at least one and  the old valve units have 2. C11,20,22,C2500,MX110 all had 2, MM and MC phon...
How do you share the sweet spot?
I have two chairs side by side.  When she complains, I slide it back over about 8" that puts me dead center.. Just don't tell her.. She's happy.I can always tell when my chairs been moved. 1.  the floor is marked, 2. The Rolling Stones, and Rod St...

Emotive  -1, not a fan.  What do you use your system for?  Music, HT or both? Speakers? CDs? What are you working with?Regards
Schiit Freya+ vs. high end (e.g., Mcintosh) ?
A Mcintosh C220 is pretty old. Really.. I have a lot of Mac gear. I had the Freya +, guess what I have the original MC275, and a GG MC275 too.The MC220 might out perform the Freya +. Not by much. New it would, and recapped correctly it will. Think...
What your choice speakers with spikes or speakers with a vibration isolation device?
If i had a wooden suspended floor I might consider isolating the stands from the floor- it might provide the best possible sound but would be a compromise compared to a more solidly mounted system on a solid floor.   The best all around for a r...
I have a weird buzz issue; can you help me solve the problem?
The next step would then be to make sure that all the signal cables you have are shielded like a coax cable. This is the problem. It's integrated. That's the issue. Speakers, IC and an Integrated amp. Nada, nothing else is hooked up, or should...
I have a weird buzz issue; can you help me solve the problem?
I have multiple built in appliances in my house and thus could not unplug everything as you suggest. A previous suggestion was to turn off all the breakers except for the one to the stereo. Will this work as well as what you suggested? Yes, b...
What Do You Think . . . and How Does It Work?
The whole reason for OB, right, boundaries, and boxes are not the first choice, of a seasoned speaker builder. I’m not a commercial speaker builder, seasoned, oh yea..I build what I know works, for over 45 years, now. The 120 to 130 pairs, I’ve pu...
What Do You Think . . . and How Does It Work?

What Do You Think . . . and How Does It Work?
not really. it rings like a bell. Yes it can, when used for TT platers, and is forged, but there is a reason for that too. Galvanization issues. With Metal housed planars. Forged, won't GROW Barnacles (as fast) as cast will. Cast alu without a ...
What Do You Think . . . and How Does It Work?
Aluminum, is a good material for low resonance, and great strength. The problem is cost. Oh my. MDF13-15 ply plywood, void free 3/4"HardwoodAluminumAs far a cost, lowest to highest. Some hardwoods can exceed Aluminum for sure, but normally they are...
I have a weird buzz issue; can you help me solve the problem?
I want to see if your speakers had two sets of binding post. If they did I wanted to isolate top from bottom. Red, or black disconnected..its gonna stop making the noise, has to.If one speaker STOPPED the noise in the other, we would have been clo...
Are integrated amps technically better than separates?
erniesch4 posts05-19-2020 8:54pm It’s so interesting that folks think they need a high quality power chord and expensive interconnects. Never mind that just inside the wall is the cheapest copper lines the contractor could buy. It’s laughable. ...
