Choke power supply- part 2
I seem to have misread @daveyf  question, and the responses of @cindyment are so inane, I had decided not to respond. But here goes anyway. All linear power supplies use a combination of chokes and caps after rectification to smooth the rectificat...
Choke power supply- part 2
@cindyment  I hope you understand a linear power supply is to create a DC voltage and current out of a 60 hz AC line. One would not want it to pass high frequencies. The OP is posting about a choke input PS, which is considered to be a step above ...
The Most Philosophical Song You Ever Heard
I like the Tim MCGraw song "Live like you were dying". One of the verses is "I gave the forgiveness, I'd been denying".
Garage Listing room
My stereo room is above the garage. On the advice of a specialist I was able to add a floating sub-floor when the house was built.  On top of the standard 3/4" plywood floor, I added a layer of roofers felt covered by a 1/2" plywood layer scewed i...
Has anyone used the new Innuos 2.0 Sense music app? Compared it to Roon?
Note new info on innuos.com inn-sights.Update 2.0.7 now available.
Cartridge ISOLATION; What Say You?
I don't understand why some folks seem to think that the tail wags the dog. There is no movement of the cartridge when an elastomer is tightly clamped between the body of the cartridge and the tonearm mounting plate. My Graham 2.2 comes with what a...
Spindle-To-Pivot Distance
No big deal. Go to turntablebasics.com and look at their table of mounting dimensions. As long as you have enough adjustability in the tonearm mounting slots you can adjust the overhang and the angle to get correct alignment. For 249.5mm P-S the o...
60 Hz Hum from Powered Sub
Almost all subs have a "plate amp" with a switching power supply and are very prone to this type of problem. Check with Tannoy and see if they have an exchange program where they send you a rebuilt plate amp, which you can change out yourself. If ...
Help! Cure for transformer hum?
I have posted this before... Hum is very rarely caused by DC on the line. I have a PS Audio Humbuster, still NIB which did nothing in my case.I actually had 2 causes:  In my tube preamp one of the toroidal transformers needed to be rotated about i...
Has anyone used the new Innuos 2.0 Sense music app? Compared it to Roon?
Yes, 2.0 is better than 1.4.9. (I can't comment on Roon.)  It's a little difficult to quantify since I had to run it with the PC on until I replaced my router, and you can't go back to verify. However, what's easy to judge is the jump in SQ with t...
Has anyone used the new Innuos 2.0 Sense music app? Compared it to Roon?
I replaced my old Motorola surfboard modem/router with a Netgear Nighthawk on Sunday. This resolved the instabilty with the Sense app.Today I updated my older Zen Mini mk II to 2.0.5. No problems. The Sense app finds whichever server I have in the ...
Has anyone used the new Innuos 2.0 Sense music app? Compared it to Roon?
Update on the 2.0 update: after over 4 hours of rescanning, the tracks are all there. There is a lot to like about the music library management with the album view; not so much on the artist view ( I now have over 8,000 artists for 3000+ albums ?)...
Has anyone used the new Innuos 2.0 Sense music app? Compared it to Roon?
With some trepidation, I have updated my Innuos Zen mk ii to 2.0.5.The good news: the update seems to have gone smoothly, only 8', then asked to reboot, then another 4' to get the Innuos Sense screen on the mainframe. Then it goes to "Music Librar...
Innuos Zenith can't connect to my.innuos
The Innuos Sense app will not work until you do the 2.0.x upgrade. Then the Orangesqueeze  app will no longer work.
