Is it possible to buy a decent tube amplifier in the $2000-3000 range?
Do what I've done - go hybrid.  I have a BAT 300xse integrated, 150 into 8 ohms, 300 watts into 4 ohms.  Very happy. I had a Pass X150.5 and a BAT VK3i tube preamp.  Very happy.

Clapton is certainly entitled to his opinion about what was "wrong" about where music was heading, after all, he is "god."I continue to be amazed at how utterly good The Band was. "Life Is A Carnival" is in my will, to be played at my wake.  LOUDL...

I recently bought my 3rd Deepblue (1 version 1 and two 2's) as a gift for a friend. After about a month it just crapped out. Since it was still under warranty I contacted Peachtree, described the situation, and was immediately sent a work order. Q...

My 3.6's are roughly eight feet apart and 18" from the back wall.  I've yet to find that any toe-in delivers any better sonics, so they ain't toed-in.

bdp24...Hahahaha!  Man, I hope that's true. To this day I still can't watch The Song Remains The Same - makes my skin crawl. One of the worst rock films possible and not the band's finest effort at all. For their best live effort it's How The West...
So how many use MM cartridge and intend to keep it that way ?
Hmmm...I have never had a turntable with anything other than an MM cartridge so I have to ask, is there THAT much of a difference?
RIP John Bonham
tooblue...Read the news about Charles Bradley as well. Fortunately,  thanks to iTunes, of which I'm hardly a fan, I downloaded two albums just the other day.  Damn good singer. The first time I heard anything by Chris Whitley he was two years dead...

garebear...Zep's manager Peter Grant was a HUGE a-hole but he was also responsible for getting Zep their fair shake of the revenues. (Whether or not that was good for fans is another thing.)Ginger Baker's career has been jazz - lasting far longer ...

"Good to great drummer but from what I have read ; a real A hole."By most accounts of his a-holeness, it was driven by his missing being away from home. Its no big secret that the hardships of incessant, lengthy tours often drives people to the ea...

jafant...Just about anything that supports or is near something electronic in my humble abode rests atop, in, or on a Salamander rack. The piece in the virtual systems photo is the only one not from its Synergy series which I've had for years. I a...

Joni Mitchell. Paprika Plains. The last 3 or 4 minutes when Weather Report closes the song. Now that's a test for Thiel bass reproduction. Natural. Taut. Hit the replay button. Can't stop. Ginger Baker. Cyril Davis. Is he in my room?Thiels astound.

I updated my virtual systems page to show the BAT integrated in place. The speakers are approximately 8 feet apart and about 18" from the back wall. (I actually have a stick marked in increments of six inches.)  Like my 3.5's, the 3.6's seem to li...
