CDP/Preamp/Amp
The order of priority IMO (using separates as you intend to do) would be:1.) Amp, or power regenerator first (if you use one) or in your case, your Audio Magic power filter, and then your amp.2.) DAC (or CD player if you use a one-box player)3.) P...
Digital Cable Choice; how critical is it?
You said:"considering that the digital information that runs from the DAC to the Preamp is 1's & 0's or bits & bytes or whatever they are called;" didn't you mean the (single) cable that runs from the CD transport (or digital output of a C...
Power cord that improve the soundstage the most?
AWG stands for American Wire Gauge. The smaller the number, the larger the wire. Google "American Wire Gauge" and learn more than you really want to know ;--)Here something on shields and OEM (stock) PCs from another thread:All three conductors in...
Power cord that improve the soundstage the most?
Herman, I don't think they sell a lot of $3500 PCs. I use PAD Dominus. They're expensive (but can be had for $900 used) and so are any of the really good ones like Virtual Dynamics, Aural Symphonics, etc. The reason they're expensive is not hype (...
Power cord that improve the soundstage the most?
Here's what I think people should do (in order of importance):1. Put in dedicated circuits. If that's not possible then:1a. Put in a power regenerator (NOT a conditioner!)2. Get the best PC you can afford that has: 10 AWG conductors and, A floating...
What were they thinking about??
Hifidreams -- I'll try that! Thanks. I do go around barefoot alot. Hope it's not toxic..
voltage conversion problem for my Lamm
I agree with Kurt. Contact Lamm. They will send instructions for your technician to make the change. I don't think it is necessary to change the transformer, only the connections.
What were they thinking about??
Mitch, the plug is probably polarized although they didn't use the wide-blade-narrow-blade convention in those days. If you look at the cord itself (I assume it's zip cord) you will see that one side of the cord has ridges on it and the other side...
question on pwr cords
Unsound, your question isn't quite clear to me. All three conductors in a power cord are connected to the plug at each end. One to hot, one to neutral and one to ground. If, in addition, the cord has a shield (usually a metal "braided tube" right ...
question on pwr cords
And while we're on the subject of OEM PCs, most of them aren't that bad. For one thing, the conductors are WELDED to the plugs before the molded casing goes on, so it's a great connection, but usually they are about one or two conductor sizes too ...
question on pwr cords
newbee -- first let me answer your specific question: no there's probably not going to be much difference between a 1.5 and say even a 6.5 meter cord of identical construction. As you get longer than twenty feet though, there IS going to be voltag...
Warm and Detailed S.S. Amp?
Gosh you guys! It's all online now ;--) Here's a couple:http://www.listenhear.co.uk/general_acoustics.htmhttp://www.tnt-audio.com/topics/frequency_e.html.
Warm and Detailed S.S. Amp?
MarcoYour system(s): Klipsh (horn), tubes, Muse digitalMy system: CLS stats (planar), SS, Wadia digitalOriginally though, I had all tube electronics, ARC SP-14 pre and two ARC trioded M300 MkII monoblks. So my before/after comparisons should be, I...
MOZNO ZERO DUST
I just use an alcohol swab and wipe across the curved part twice (once each side of the swab). Cleans and restores the tacky surface..
question on pwr cords
Once you go beyond 1.5 m from the wall, you must use 10AWG or larger conductors to maintain good energy transfer -- especially for a power amp.Unfortunately, that rules out anything 'unobtrusive', except for the Aural Thrills "Silver Big One", or ...
