A scary thought from Ellery911
Yeah, but I think they come out of the orient and have a Jadis sound system.
tweak, do they realy bring improvement?
Barry, I agree with your comments, but ultimately the desired result is the same. Vibrations, contrary to what the Beach Boys said are not good. Hospitals, labs, and observatories are trying to accomplish the same thing we are, the best environmen...
Upgrading, Help Audiogoners
I agree with squidboyw. The KRC-HR ia a much better pre-amp. I don't think that going to the KAV 300 is a real step up. There are many other CDPs that might offer better performance.Forget the BAT. It is not a step up in what you are looking for, ...
tweak, do they realy bring improvement?
Most tweaks (Cables are not tweaks, since the system will not work without them) are designed to do one thing: reduce vibrations. Without getting into a big discussion about physics, vibrations prevent audio gear from functioning at their highest ...
Dumb question..but just wondering ?????
The wood will darken with age, but the Formby's or whatever you use will accelerate the aged appearance. It should have no affect on the sound.
A scary thought from Ellery911
Just the idea of Ellery911 having a thought is a little scary!!!I'm not worried about fake gear since most audiophiles are quite anal about what they buy and sell. They know more details about the equipment than the people who build the stuff. It'...
Record cleaning vs Last Record Preservative
Over vaccuming or over drying can cause static to build up on the record surface. I never go over three rotations, and less if possible. I'm not really a fan of Nitty Gritty record cleaners, but I don't know that I would point my finger at it as t...
Why is Sony Digital sound more like vinyl?
the CX777es is nothing like the XA777es. The XA is the multichannel version of the SCD777es. Both were, during their respective productions the second in the line below the SCD 1. The CX was just another multlidisc player.I have the SCD777es, and ...
Seeking $15,000.00 speaker to replace Quad 988's
Have you considered the Dali's? I have a friend who went from Planers to Dali's although his were a little pricier than what you mentioned. I wonder how the Euphonia's would sound with your system. You are going to have some give and take changing ...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
I bet this one was not on anyone elses list. I bought a stack on used LPs a few weeks ago and have been working my way through them. Last night I listened to three LPs the most fun was a Disney "Three Little Pigs" narrated by Sterling Halloway! It...
Why do only US makers focus on time coherency?
Phasecorrect, don't forget about Thiel!
new gear vs used gear
All of my cables are new. My CDP was a store demo, so where does that fit in? My TT was a factory upgrade, so it is new/used, my pre-amp was bought used and sent back to Klyne to be completely upgraded to the latest model so it is new/used. The re...
Sota owners -- help needed re: reflex clamp
I got my Star with the reflex clamp directly from Sota when I upgraded from a Sapphire. The rubber washer was not included in the setup, but I have always used the reflex clamp, so I don't know how much effect the clamp actually has in holding the...
Cars R OK, but what kind of motorcycle do you have
I have been looking at the American Iron Horse cruisers lately. I don't like the choppers, but their other bikes are amazing. There is a dealer here who has several including a Slammer. They ain't cheap, but they sho is nice.
Memories........What made you catch the Audio Bug?
I was walking down 27th street in Milwaukee when this big, long, black Lincoln Towncar pulled along side of me. As I glanced over to see what this shadow was, a window rolled down and a southern gentleman (I could tell by the accent) said "Hey dud...
