About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone I was amazed on several occasions when Pat told me that he would not trade away his experience for his waning health. So many hang onto what they cannot keep.Jim Elliot once said "He is not fool who gives up what he connot keep, to gain that which...
ZYX Airy 3x/SB vs. Dynavector XV-1 or 1s Typically the Zyx Airy 3x SB takes nearly 300 hours to break in. I noticed a real improvement between 200 and 300 hours.Brightness was never an issue in my setup though, so I'm not sure if the additional time will alleviate this issue.
A tubes vs. Solid State question. Maybe one aspect of tube gear that I hadn't considered is the possibility of tube rolling. It seems that the sound can be tailored to the coloration the listener prefers. I guess even tube lovers cannot agree on tubes!?!FWIW I have had an integrat...
Theory about Cary amps and their reviewers Biomimetic, I'm not sure if you're just stupid or if you believe that rubbish you just wrote. I have a tube system at work with KT 88's in the amp, and I like it very much. It sounds a lot better than the Cary ever did...There are a lot of product...

About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone I am and have been praying for a comfortable transition to Pats next (real) life.It brings up a lot of sorrow to read about his discomfort, and to consider the sadness that Barb and Amanda will experience. If only there were a way to easy the pain...
Theory about Cary amps and their reviewers artmaltman, I was using Kharma 1.0 ceramique speakers, and the amp had been recently serviced by Cary, everything checked out fine. The speakers never sounded slow or lifeless when I used other amplification. BUT those are good valid questions.
Theory about Cary amps and their reviewers I had a pair of V12 monoblocks in my system for a month or so. They belonged to a former friend who bought a SS amp from me. He let me use them while I looked for a replacement. I have never read a review of a Cary amp, but my results were similar...
How does one get off the merry-go-round? Phd is that the 'yo-yo effect' of the audio hobby? It's a scientific fact.
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone I'm with JD, I check this thread several times throughout the day for any news about our favorite Lugnut. We pray for you everyday.
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone This must be my lucky day! I got to spend a minute on the phone with the Ol' Lugnut himself. He sounded chipper. The tube is letting him take in some fluids, and help to hydrate that parched body of his.Friends and family are on their way to spend...
Did I make a mistake buying Krell? The Krell should work fine with what you have. Nearly every time a person buys something they wonder if they're doing the right thing. No one can answer that question but you. Put it in the system and listen to your favorite music. If you like how...
How does one get off the merry-go-round? No one gets off, but some are pushed!
Sources of 45 RPM recordings Acoustic Sounds is a good source. I have purchased a number of them from AS, and several from http://www.amusicdirect.com too. I'm sure there are more sources but those are the two that come to mind.
Vibration control question.... That's odd, when I tried the Jello shots under the CDP everything was real thick and overly sweet, kinda like tubes! |
