BIAMPING Hmmm...perhaps an important point to make here... If the speaker just has dual connectors without some sort of shorting bar you can remove, the speakers could be BI-WIRABLE but NOT BI-AMPABLE. I don't know if there are any speakers to which this w...
BIAMPING It looks to me like you have the following options:1) Run each amp bridged mono, wired in to each speaker.2) Run each amp stereo, one for highs, one for lows3) Run each amp stereo, high and low of one speakers in one amp and v.v.I went through thi...
Just getting started Trelja, I had another thread open on those mono blocks you mentioned... I was having trouble finding a decent CD player with volume control. Do you have any suggestions on an inexpensive CDP with volume control?
Just getting started Yes, Yes, Yes! It is possible to get started with $1,000! Welcome to the hobby. Starting with a CD player and headphone is an excellent suggestion! When I got started many moons ago, I went out and listened to everything I could listen to, cheap to...
Cryogenic Tempering On a lighter note, think about how cool your amp would look if you found a way to put dry ice inside... Can you imagine that slow, thick, white mist pooring out the front and sides of your amp as it plays? Would be especially awesome if you put a ...
99 10W Tube Mono Blocks? Trelja, that is precisely what I am thinking. Do you have any suggestions on the inexpensive CD player, which should probably have volume control built in?
Audiophile spending What an interesting question. I guess I want to take a little different spin on the Ratios. The number of high-end equipment buys I have done in the last year for my audio system was 7. The number of software buys I did I can't even count, must be ...
Great music stores in LA/Santa Monica? Thanks a bunch guys! Those sound like great recommendations. With the important stuff out of the way, I guess I should now go take care of minor details like finding a place to stay and such :)
Always leave equipment on? I leave all my high-end audio on 24/7. It just sounds best. The major drawback i have found is that on equipment without a 'display off' switch, displays get dim over time.
You wouldn t believe it s good, but... Madonna's Music = addictive... (Normally do not like her stuff, this CD I just can't put away)
Vocalists/Musicians Wasting Their Talent I suppose some of the questions you're asking could be paraphrased as "Why do talented people not always live up to their full potential?"My answer would be: Distractions. Money and fame are of course some of the prime distractors for almost anyon...
AC lines It would probably be better if you did not coil, but in stead just make one loop, like a long U. Make sure the legs of the U are not parrallel to speaker or line level cables.
Bi-wiring mishap Dear Kubla,Your question, "can someone tell me if I did something incorrect or if this was some problem with the system?", ia a semi-rethorical ambiguous one.It appears that the statement that best describes your situation, and that at the same ti...
Power Strip vs. Line Conditioner I guess I should augment my post by pointing out that I have now had a PS Audio PowerPlant 300 on my SCD-1 and ML380 Preamp for 2 days, which did improve sound somewhat...
Power Strip vs. Line Conditioner I decided to not use power strips. Instead, I took the outlet out of the drywall, put a triple wall-mount box in, replaced the original outlet with a Hubble, put it in the center of said box, with two Hubble outlets connected to it with 4" of #10 ... |
