isolation and dampening tweaks
awesome.thanks everyone.I've got some bike tubes sitting in front of me that I tried to use for a tweak to float the top half of my VR4s. looked good, but made the tops a little wobbly, and that's unacceptable w/a toddler in the house.;-)
What is a DAC, and why do I need one?
you probably ment to say "digital to analog converter":)fwiw...the DAC is the single most important piece of listening to digital music reproduction.there is a lot of data in these CDs we listen to. A lot of great music and ambience...but you'll n...
SACD on its way out?
quoted from 10-23-04: Musicslug>I was the one that said that. I haven't heard that SACD is >"on the way out" though. What I opined is that SACD is an >attempt on the part of the music industry to stop copying >and downloading (no digit...
$1200 vs $200 cd players
IMO...your Sony STR-DA2000ES, when fed a digital PCM signal from any source..and being in direct 2 channel mode, is an AMAZING SOUNDING amp. You'd have to spend upwards of $5k in sperate componants to top that soundstage, detail and imaging prowes...
How good is the Philips 963SA as CD transport?
IMO, its not all that good as a transport.A friend and I, who both owned 963sa's, put one of them up against an old transport that he has (a parasound he paid less used for it than a new 963 costs). It wont play most CD-Rs we put in it...so its go...

Looking to better my redbook action....
thanks for the suggestionsI've looked at the Cal Audio Delta transports...but have not checked out the DACs. They have to be quite impressive to best my thoughts of the benchmark.
Martin Logan Owners...Why should I?
VR4 originalbest $1500 speaker you can buy!mine are top notch condition too. I really scored on these. I doubt I'll ever own another pair of speakers to replace these for a long time to come.
Martin Logan Owners...Why should I?
I'll chime in.I too was wooed by the sound of the MLs when I first heard them (ascent). It lead me from being a maggie guy to giving them a shot. I picked up a pair of SL3's (best big ML for the money on the used market, imo) and was woefully diss...
Amps used for Von Schw.VR2's??
I'm also using a McCormack DNA-1 , and it gives these speakes gobs of SMACK and SLAM.I've been contemplating a digital amp, just for a change. The PS-Audio HC2 seems to get gushing reviews by all who have touched it. that is the likely direction I...
thoughts on the Music Fidelity CD-Pre at 1,300
i'm also about to get one of these...looking forward to it.I used to own SL3's. IMO, they sound best with some sort of tube componant. either pre or power amp...or both!that big pannel has the nicest mid range, and tubes just realy work their magi...
Do Audio Experience Symphonies leak DC current?
I have spke to Katchup privately, but i'll share my responce here as well.I have the Audio Experience Symphonies preamp and a McCormack DNA-1 power amp. The DNA goes into protection mode a lot...sometimes when I turn on other appliances (vacume, T...
suggestions for used class A integrated under $2k
I think you can find comprimises on either side of the fence w/this debate.the big one that I see is you are "trapped" in a system you cant tweak outside of cables. Where as, you can always get new pres, or a new amp when you go with seperates.Ove...
