Vegasears: thanks for the links I had already seen the sound-hifi one, but the art of sound forum had some interesting threads. My favourite was a link to AudioAsylum that pictures of re-plinthed sl-12000 with two arms.See link: http://db.audioasy...
SL1200 upgrade tonearm or replace cartridge?
Has anyone tried a VPI tonearm, such as a JMW 9t on a SL1200?I kind of share zenblasters view why put money and effort into something that is fundamental flawed.Johnny I've tried the Teflon wrap, the improvement was marginal at best.
SL1200 upgrade tonearm or replace cartridge?
Vic, I think the "life being sucked out" effect you describe is most likely due to the stock tonearm more than the table as whole. As for the speed searching, this is not my experience. My 1200 is absolutely stable, quartz locked at the correct spe...

Johnny I had already seen that review, thank you. I think i read it in one of your others posts. It is one of the things motivating me to go along this route. In the passed I had tried the Ortofon 2M blue, it wasn't bad for the money but the Benz G...
Do expensive cables/wires REALLY make a difference
The answer is.... Wait for it.... It depends! It depends on the electronics and the interaction between them, such as between your speakers and amp. Some combinations can be more sensitive to differences in cables, whereas with others a change in c...
Experiences with Blu-ray players
This seemed at first to be a very straight forward topic, but it turns out to be more complex than I thought. My player, Cambridge 751bd, when playing a SACD, sends a PCM signal to my tv via the HDMI, unless I select the multi channel track. Howeve...
Montreal Jazz Festival 34th Edition
There is a pretty good iPad/smart phone app available that updates all year long with live shows in and around Montreal. It is available on the festival web site. However, it has not been update yet with the info here.I have seen some amazing jazz ...
Experiences with Blu-ray players
Gammajo, the SACD signal is in PCM, unless you specifically select the 5.1 track. There should be no downmixing per se. At least that is my understanding.
Experiences with Blu-ray players
SACDs are multi layer disks, they often include multiple mixes, generally 5.1 and Stereo and in the case of hybrid SACDs they also include a red-book layer that can be played in a regular CD player. (As Kr4explained so eloquently)On my Cambridge75...
Oppo 95 vs Cambridge Audio Azur 751
I have the Cambridge and don't experience any static with my player. I love it, no complaints as of yet and have had it for nearly 9 month. It is dead silent. As for the difference in sound between the two players, I couldn't tell you as I have nev...

new processor decision....help me decide
Bill, I can't make any recommendation on the processors listed or any other for that matter as I have little to no experience with home theatre systems. The little experience I have is in regards to the integration of my Cambridge bd751 and TV into...
new processor decision....help me decide
Kr4, is it desirable?
new processor decision....help me decide
I don't think you can decode or process twice. If the oppo decodes then it will send an analog signal to the pre/processor. If you use the hdmi out for audio then the processor will decode and the Dac in the oppo will not be used.
