First let me add Keith Jarett to the list, and second I would like to add Chick Corea. As other have stated, I can't believe we have gotten this far into the thread without mention of them.I just picked up a DVD copy of Miles Electric which includ...
MonitorAudioSilverRS6 vs ParadigmReferenceStudio60
I have a pair of RS6 and they sound great, I have compared them to other speakers of equal and higer quality and they are hard to beat for the money.BUT, they can be quite boomy if they are not paired with the right gear. When I first got them I w...
Ortofon 2M Red Not Happy Need advice
I can speak for Dave, he has an extremely smooth tube phono-pre. The exact brand and model escapes me now as it is an obscure make. But I assure you that it is high calibre. And yes most cartridges shine with it. But unfortunately not the 2M red.
any early 80's alt/soft punk fans out there?
Tzh21y, your list resembles my CD collection during high-school. Good memories...This music eventually lead me to the rave seen of the early 90s, when I started DJaying and the discovery of vinyl. The vinyl lead me to my present audio addicition.A ...

"Crack" sound in left speaker tube amp

Technics 1200 MKII Quartz Speed Strobe Issue Video
I have had my 1200s for nearly twenty years, and I was not the first owner. I have never oiled my bearings and do not plan on doing so.One caveat with used 1200s, these tables are the skratch djs table of choice. It goes without saying that skratc...
Noise at start-up of one mono-block
I picked up a matched quad of electro-harmonix KT88's from my dealer who sold me the amps. There not from Quicksilver but I had to make a choice, no music for the long Easter week-end or wait for Quicksilver tubes. The choice was clear.I haven't h...
Noise at start-up of one mono-block
Thanks Rrog for the advice. If I am going to change all the tubes I was considering changing from EL34 to KT88.Do you, or any one else have any experience with running the Mid-monos with KT88s.
Noise at start-up of one mono-block
Swapped the output tubes (not the driver tubes) and the buzzing moved from the left to right side. Conclusion, faulty or worn output tubes (EL34s).Now, I have to replace the pair for a new matched pair. Should I replace the output tubes on both amps?
Noise at start-up of one mono-block
I switched the input and driver tubes on the amps. There was no noise at start-up but after about an hour listening the buzzing noise started again in the left amp.So the input and driver tubes are ruled out as the problem. Once the amps cool, I w...
Noise at start-up of one mono-block
