DAC Recommendation around 2.5K
Why not the PS Audio PWD MkII, especially if you had a good experience within the PS Audio family. You can easily find a gently used one within your budget. It will suit yiour needs and based on my experience with it, is a top notch, very versatik...
Thoughts on Krell FPB series? 600 in particular.
I am a big fan of my FPB 300cx amp. Unkless you have a very demanding speaker load, I cannot imagine this amp not giving you all the slam and high end sparkle you need or want. Plus, it is bulletproof. Mine is almost 11 years old and never had eve...
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
Thanks, friends. I will try them tonight in both locations, although pre to amp requires me to morph into Gumby. Will report when I have formed an opinion.Appreciate the input (no pun intended).Neal
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
When the fabled CT-1E's arrive tonight, where do you valued A'goners suggest I put them. (No, not there!) From PS Audio PWD MKII DAC to Wyetech Opal preamp (replacing Stealth Indra) or from pre to Krell 300cx amp (replacing JPS Aluminata), OR, fro...
Anyone try the Bryston BDP-2 or the BDA-2 Dac
Ozzy,If you want to operate the BDP-2 from a tablet, MPOD is the player, although I use an iPad or iPhone so cannot speak to Android devices. From a laptop, I highly recommend the Gnome music player (free). Much better than Gnome and in fact it is...

I will be receiving CT-1E IC's tomorrow. They will be up against serious IC competition in my system: Nordost Valhalla, JPS Aluminata and Stealth Indra. If they sound better than ANY of these, it will be quite an accompishment; if they sound bette...
Anyone try the Bryston BDP-2 or the BDA-2 Dac
I have a BDP-1 and absolutely love it. The sound is glorious and it is easy to use. The BDP-2 probably is better with NAS as music storage device. I am using a portable 500gb HD. The BDP-1 can be used with NAS but there is software to be added whi...
Best Powercord for a TV?
I inserted an old Electraglide Genghis Khan PC into my Samsung HDTV and the improvement was breathtaking! Colors were more saturated and picture much more realistic.Neal
Quandry: Used Magico V2 vs. new S1
I listened to the used V2's and was surprisingly underwhelmed. Bass was shallow and flabby and top end lacked sparkle. Would be a step down from my VSA VR5 HSE's. heard the Marten Django's and they were very good, but huge -- too big for my LR.Wil...
Wyetech Ruby STD Preamp
Thanks. Will look forward to reading about it. Price-wise, it is a bargain, if it even approximates the Opal.Neal
People buying Transports again?
Very curious to hear impressions of an AQ Ethernet cable vs. generic. AQ is highly reputable company so I would expect improvement.Neal
People buying Transports again?
Although I principally use a Bryston BDP-1 fed by a hard drive for my music, I sill very much enjoy spinning a CD on my PAM modded CEC TL-1x. Through the PS Audio PWD Mk II, it is warmer and fuller bodied, though not as detailed and transparent as...
Pioneer PD-65 & Parasound z-dac
I loaned my PDR-65, purchased in 1991 or '92, to a friend a few years ago and it is still spinning and playing beautifully. A work of industrial art!Neal
Krell 700cx, and Tara cobalt A/C power cord.
I have had an FPB 300cx for 10 happy years, with the captive PC, and never felt the need for an aftermarket PC. I do, however, run it through my Audience AR6 power conditioner, and this makes for a great improvement. Just one man's experience.
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
Another vote for Von Schweikert VR5 HSE's (see 12/30/12 Lneilb). After almost a decade with these beauties, they have stood the test of time. Always supremely gratifying -- never annoying. Sometimes I look up and imply say: Wow! Thiose speakers ar...
