REL subwoofer with old McIntosh tube gear? Got it...I'll try it. Thanks!
REL subwoofer with old McIntosh tube gear? Thanks Al. Are you sating I should jumper both amps from common to ground even though the black wire from the REL is only connected to one? Thanks very much. I'm assuming there should never be a hum...even a slight one?
REL subwoofer with old McIntosh tube gear? Thanks. The Amps are Mc-60s and I've got the REL T-7 wired to the speaker outputs..8ohm/com. I tried jumpering to ground..no change. The hum is pretty slight but definitely there only when the amps are on..
REL subwoofer with old McIntosh tube gear? Two prong adapter made the hum much louder...:/
REL subwoofer with old McIntosh tube gear? Thanks, tried grounding to chassis to no avail. I'll try the two prong idea...thanks much.

Audio Research pre-amps? Atmasphere...I'll see if Mark will lend me something...;)
Audio Research pre-amps? Interesting Al...I'll give that a try. The cables are recent and I didn't notice a huge difference...maybe a little more bass?Like I said before...it's just a touch bright....really nitpicking I think? I'm also a total novice. Thanks for your help...
Audio Research pre-amps? Thanks guys...why ARC? I just like the simplicity and they are a local company to me, so any service would be easy...I'll try playing a bit but my room doesn't allow for much change...
Thinking I need a Sub... An Update: I'm very happy with the REL T7. It's doing exactly what I'd hoped and was pretty easy to set up. I put it in the corner behind the left speaker. I messed with the knobs for about 10 minutes and haven't touched it since. It really added ...
Thinking I need a Sub... Oh sure...that makes sense. I'm still feeling good about the REL. If I'm still not happy, I'll just get a good set of full range speakers.
Thinking I need a Sub... B_limo...yeah, I get it...:)I found more reviews of REL subs last night and they really do seem to have a different philosophy. Most reviewers seem to agree that they're very good with 2 channel stuff...which is what I'm doing. No HT for me...:)A
Thinking I need a Sub... Bob, the sales dude said the REL will improve the bass so much overall, I'm less likely to overdrive the Boxers...does this make sense? Thanks,Aaron
Thinking I need a Sub... Thanks Bob. Yeah, I understand and totally appreicate your advice. I still may need to do a crossover or buy bigger speakers. This was a start and I liked the idea of the REL piggybacking off the amp...it's seems more 'pure'. Honestly, the music t...
Thinking I need a Sub... Thanks Bob, that does help.Well, I bought a REL T-7...I'll get it installed and post my thoughts. I was back and forth on this but adding a sub seems to be the consensus..and the REL seemed like the best for the money. Always a gamble! Thanks,Aaron |
