Lyngdorf MP-50 Alternative
@soix I guess you could interpret wanting analog inputs means the request to use an external DAC is as an input into the SSP, but I read them as separate. It wasn't explicitly stated that the additional "equipment with external DAC" was going to b...
Lyngdorf MP-50 Alternative
@soix the OP is looking for a surround sound processor that has room correction and digital output, in order to put the outboard 2-channel DAC after the room correction. So there would be no ADC.The Trinnov Altitude surround sound processor does h...
Lyngdorf MP-50 Alternative
I’m just wondering what’s the point of using an external DAC if you’re using it with room correction?@soix one may prefer the sound of the external 2-channel DAC for stereo music playback over the analog output of the surround sound processor.

You can find a full list of brands that support Dirac in a surround sound processor on the Dirac Live downloads page. Dirac is an outstanding solution and one that I recommend.Past Dirac, I would recommend the Trinnov Altitude16. This offers best-...
"Need" Roon, Bluesound Node, or or other streamer?
I think there is only one product that meets all of your criteria:Tidal with MQAQuboz (I'm assuming also 24/196 lossless)new Apple tier (lossless)Amazonand my ripped CDsI think the only products that support Apple Music Lossless are the Apple TV, ...
Please clear up my confusion re: meaning of "balanced" !
I guess connecting a line-level XLR output to an XLR microphone 12V phantom power input might cause damage to the output gear.
Please clear up my confusion re: meaning of "balanced" !
Well, things won't work right if you connect a phono RCA jack to a line-level RCA jack, or a consumer-level RCA jack to a pro-level RCA jack, or an analog audio XLR jack to an AES/EBU XLR jack, or a component video BNC jack to an audio S/PDIF BNC ...
Please clear up my confusion re: meaning of "balanced" !
The Wikipedia article on balanced audio probably covers everything you're looking for. Clicking through some of the links in the article will give you more details.
Will accidental max volume damage a speaker?
If there was permanent damage, you'd probably be able to hear it. But no, speakers generally don't have some sort of limiter built into them to protect against overdriving or overloading. So just be careful.
HiFi News Test Record Azimuth
Adjusting azimuth affects crosstalk and relative phase of the two channels.People can accept some level of crosstalk, particularly from speakers since you're hearing each speaker with both ears, but many cartridges (particularly less expensive one...
Balanced connecter output voltage on a Brooklyn + DAC.
Have you tried contacting Mytek?I've read the Brooklyn DAC+ has twice the voltage on its XLR outputs. So my guess would be it is 4V - 4.5V rms. But that's the point of the volume control, if you're connecting it directly to an amplifier. Just turn...
Is it worth replacing an old amp?
@divby0 some speakers are easier to drive than others. In that situation, an amplifier that sounds good with an easy-to-drive speaker may have problems with a difficult-to-drive speaker and therefore will sound bad.Likewise, there is a degree of m...
Is it worth replacing an old amp?
Amplifiers sound different. Replacing your old DSP-A1 with a new amp o an old amp could change the sound and improve or worsen the audio quality. That being said, there have been significant advances in amplifier technology over the past few decad...
Marantz AV 7005
@kkirk001 Marantz is one of my favorite brands that I highly recommend. If you want to negotiate with the buyer I think that's okay. Many people will initially offer a lower number than they're willing to accept in case the seller says yes.If you ...
questions about streaming source for a headphone amp
@northman USB is probably the most common digital connection from a computer to an external DAC or audio interface and what you should use. But older Mac computers also included a mini-TOSLink output in the 1/8" headphone jack.
