Finally Defined My Requirements. Recommendations? Other suggestions? Although I have not heard it, the new Audio Reseach SP-16 looks to be a very good tube preamp. It costs right at $2K (line stage) or $2.5K (w/phono)new. It was recently reviewed on one of the audio sites and recieved much acclai...
EMC1 mk2 vs Cary 306/200... Nice work Tok2000. A well delineated and written comparative review.
PS Audio PCA-2 Pre-Amp ???? It may be that PS is jumping the gun and advertising this product when it's engineering cycle has not been completed. I have seen this happen before. There are several reasons for engineering delays - performance or reliability issues, parts avail...
philips sacd 1000 as a redbook player The 1000 has a mediocre to poor reputation as a redbook player. Below is one very recent thread from Audio Asylum's digital forum on it's redbook performance. My recommendation would be to wait for the newer model (963 I think) however, I have not...
Finest integrated SE under U.S. $ 6,000.00 PASS will kick ass, assuming you want no editing.
Who's using the Jolida JD100? I have owned the JD-100 for approximately 8 months and am continually impressed with how good it sounds. Hard to b elieve this is less than a grand. Just no glaring shortcomings that leave one wanting. The player sounds immediate and dynamic with ...
Merlin VMS versus VMPS RM-40 versus Proac 3.8 The RM-40s sure have garnered a good reputation and I would love to try a pair. But, at 240lbs each (or there-abouts) they are just too large and heavy. The weight is particularly bothersome, for me anyway. When I think about all the technological...
Cary CD-308T The Jolida is a budgetary delight. More money does not necessarily mean more performance (your listening experience) in regards to CD players.
Innersound Kilowatt Monoblock, how good is it? The following link includes a few comments on the Innersound amp as well as a couple others.http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/amp/messages/6608.html
What speakers for $5K Used? You may want to try a new pair of Magnepan 3.6s. The large, immediate and dynamic soundstage very well may give you a new lease on life. The Maggies have their drawbacks but, the large and immediate soundstage, and truth of timbre are not among th...
OK, best speakers for 2500 USED...... Magnepan 1.6's. Se'em up right and they will continue to excite. A lot of speaker for the money.
The Best Amplifier Ever ? The five that he sells, of course.
Maggies and Talon Roc Good information here. I guess the set-up could have been less than ideal but, from a visual standpoint the subs were located beside and just inside the panels. Seems like a respectable place to put them. And the x-over from the Vandersteen 5 was ...
3-way under 1000 new. I have heard quite a bit of good things about he new Energy C-series (C-5, 7 & 9). These are under 1K and suppose to be very good. Auditioning is on my inteniary.
Anyone compared the Rega Jupiter and Cary 306/200? Don't get pigeonholed with the Cary. In this price range you need to be sure and audition components. Like the Arcam FMJ-23. You will be surprised. |
