Under my tower speakers -- Isoacoustics Gaia, other options? Of all the tweaks/upgrades I’ve employed in my systems, the Townshend podiums made the largest improvement, by a wide margin. They are transformative. Highly recommended 👍🏼  | |
Cheapest but good cables…. + 1 more Audio Envy fan. Fantastic value.
Bottlehead Kaiju 300B vs Dennis Had Inspire 300B. blisshifi Thank you for sharing your experiences. Much appreciated.
Too much power? @boxcarman My experience with Magnepan's is just the opposite. My 1.7's sound much better being driven by the XA-25 vs the XA-100.8 monos. That said, I prefer the 100.8's with the Quad ESL-2905's. | |
Best Amps for Magneplanar 1.7i Speakers @yuviarora +1 upgrading the crossover is the biggest bang for the buck with the Magnepans.
So, I listened to a $1Million Dollar System @ozzy Was it LMC in Scottsdale AZ? 18 months ago, I spent 3 hours auditioning their set-up showcasing Dan D’Agostino monos & pre-amp. Wilson Audio Chronosonic XVX speakers and subsonic subwoofer towers. Transparent cabling, etc. I was inform...
Difusers on the speakers? +1 This has been the most impactful upgrade to my system I've ever made @havocman  "just try the Townshend podiums, they're expensive but oh my goodness it's like having a whole new system it makes that big of a difference isolating the speakers ...
Pass INT-25 better than Wilsenton R8? I also own a pair of XA-100.8 monos, and prefer the XA-25's single ended circuit topology, speed, timbre, & tonality. The XA-25 has no issues whatsoever powering my Magnepans & Quad ESL 2905's
Pass INT-25 better than Wilsenton R8? @jetter The amp stages of the INT-25 and the XA-25 amplifiers share the same components & configuration. The INT-25 siphons ~25% of the power transformers output to run the pre amplifier section. I've owned both, fully broken in. For me the ...
My New Magnepan 1.7i's sound dull and lifeless on the top end...why? russ691,216 posts07-29-2021 12:28pmI just wanted to add, make sure your banana plugs are not inserted too far. They can sometimes foul some wiring or reach the panel. Also take a flashlight and look at the wiring near the crossover and see if you ...
My New Magnepan 1.7i's sound dull and lifeless on the top end...why? kingbarbuda289 posts07-28-2021 8:45pmI have a pair of 1.7is. I recommend until you are very familiar with the Maggies and sort this issue out, that you run them only on solid state equipment. I have not looked up the specs on those Pass Labs monob...
My New Magnepan 1.7i's sound dull and lifeless on the top end...why? audiokinesis2,592 posts07-28-2021 8:27pmGetting good measurements of large dipole loudspeakers is not trivial. My point being, it is extremely unlikely that casual non-gated in-room measurements made with a spectrum analyzer are "accurate" when the...

My New Magnepan 1.7i's sound dull and lifeless on the top end...why? kingdeezie46 posts07-28-2021 6:05pmI would think there is a problem with the speakers. 9 DB down in the highs? If the LRS sounds good on the same equipment in the same room, something wrong with the 1.7s.Agreed
My New Magnepan 1.7i's sound dull and lifeless on the top end...why? andrewmg7 posts07-28-2021 5:56pmHave you tried using the stock u-shaped jumper in place of your anticables attenuator? Seems a likely culprit....I'll try that. thx |
