Power requirements for Acoustat 2+2s I have 2+2's and can tell you from experience that many amps can drive them without blowing up or sounding obviously wanting in any department. However, until you have tried several amps in rapid succession you won't appreciate how different each ...
Acoustat 4 Monitor: still actual? Key Ealey of www.kenealeyaudio.com services and mods the Acoustat Servo amps. He's done great work for me in the past, and I'm planning on sending him my set of Servo amps one day for refurbishment.
PS Audio PCA-2 Preamplifier - Characteristics? I have the PCA-2 + HCPS and the HCA-2. I use pro sound balanced interconnects wherever possible and the setup sounds great and has zero issues. Equipment treadmill: Stopped.
Acoustat TNT 200 Upgrade / Rebuild I had a TNT-200 rebuilt to better than new by kenealeyaudio dot com. Very reasonable prices, too.
What amp do I need to power my Acoustat 1100 Simple: PS Audio HCA-2. On my 2+2's I've tried McIntosh, TNT-200, and Hafler 9500 but none came close to the new technology in the HCA-2. No noise, no hum, no heat, no strain. Stereophile "A rated" for a reason.
best cd player for 300-500 bux Or just get an Oppo and save $100-300 for something else.
"Internet Radio" Suggestions Please? Check out the recent thread in this forum titled "Internet radio stations that sound really good" which dates back to 01-25-09 as of this posting. I'll add that DeeperIntoMusic dot com just added a 128 AAC stream and it sounds quite good.
Acoustat 2+2 : CJ 2500A or Simaudio W 5 ? Or if you have $650 to spend try a used PS Audio HCA-2. I'm amazed how well it works with my Acoustat 2+2's.
Shure A15AS XLR attenuators.. anyone tried them? I just bought an NHT PVC Pro passive volume control (at a great close-out price). It sounds fine to me. Attenuator problem solved. Thanks, Bob R.
I've got a PS Audio GCC-250 on the way. Mistake?? If your GCC-250 is anything like my HCA-2 (the GCC's predecessor) you'll be calling it your Last Amp. They're that good, with no issues whatsoever. I would so love to have a volume knob on mine.. it's only shortcoming! If, however, you're the type ...
Driving 1 ohm My Acoustat 2+2's do amazingly well driven by a PS Audio HCA-2 amp. Grab one here on Agon for $600 used.. you won't be sorry, and your back will thank you!
Shure A15AS XLR attenuators.. anyone tried them? EVS's web site describes their attenuators as follows:"The low impedance version works best with solid state amps and can be used for tube amps as well. It has a 1K input impedance at low volumes and has a somewhat higher input impedance at higher...
Low cost Amp? What didn't you like about the PS Audio HCA-2?? I have one and think it's phenomenal, and flat out the best bang-for-the-buck available in your price range.
Understanding Jitter in PC Audio I use Winamp (on WinXP, using ASIO4ALL) to stream from my Sony laptop's toslink output into a plastic toslink cable to a Behringer SRC2496 DAC which then outputs to my system's preamp. I set the Behringer to use its internal clock. Behringer claim...
Internet radio stations that sound really good One difficulty is that smaller Internet radio stations are too often short-lived, streaming happily along one day and gone the next. Their stream URLs change at times, too, which makes maintaining a bookmark list (Winamp is good for this) difficul... |
