How Much Is Too Much? Excellent subject. We are about the same age. I agree, I no longer want to listen at concert levels. It's never going to be ths same as live anyway. I find it too much and much prefer to listen at lower levels. It draws me into the music.
Shanling/Music Hall CD Player repair Music Hall can't direct you to a repair facility with parts and schematics to fix their products? Why would anyone buy from them?
DIRECTION OF SIGNAL FLOW VIA INTERCONNECTS Think about it. The signal flows from the source, through the preamp to the amp which sends it to the speakers. The arrows from the source (CD, tuner, tape, record player) should point to the preamp. The arrows from the preamp should point to the ...
Refinishing wood on my Maggies It is easy but tedious to remove the socks. Magnepan does not spare the staples. There are a bunch. The trim is also easy to remove. Just be careful, of the speaker elements, when working with them. Best to have a helper.
Refinishing wood on my Maggies Socks are available, at reasonable prices, from Magnepan. Any good cabinet shop can refinish the wood trim. Might be cheaper to buy new trim from Magnepan. Stripping and staining yourself is certainly possible with care and patience.
Quality of Calif Audio Labs Delta Transport? It is excellent but is getting long in the tooth. I don't know if repair is available anywhere, at this time.
Best Preamp/Amp Combo for Maggie 1.6QR's? The M3A is an excellent preamp, very well built and quite reliable. But, be warned, if you ever need service you can expect your preamp to be gone for up to a year. AI's service is legendary for being incredibly slow.
Best Preamp/Amp Combo for Maggie 1.6QR's? I don't agree that the 1.6s don't need current to shine. I tried a Music Reference RM-200 (great amp) and was extremely disappointed in the result. I switched to a pair of Portal Paladin monoblocks and the speakers really sing. I use a VTL 2.5 tub...
Rega Saturn Late Model It is a redbook player only. Rega doesn't make a SACD player. I doubt they ever will. They were the last major player to bring out a CD Player.
stereo amps and preamps for rent, what do you think Gotsouldr, build the business case. Determine how many pieces you need to have steady rental income. How well are you capitalized? How long a payback period can you handle before realizing a profit? For example, a $6000 product (your cost) rented ...
stereo amps and preamps for rent, what do you think Keep thinking. Every great idea was preceded by a thousand bad ones.
RCA Splice There are RCA couplers available. I assume you don't really want to cut (splice) the cable.
Leaving DAC on all the time OK? No, leave it on all the time. It will sound better. You don't need be be concerned about excessive wear.
Anyone use a platter mat with their VPI? The VPI is not designed for the use of a mat. You can do it but you will simply muck up the sound. No matter what is done to the MMF-7 it will never be in the same class as the Scoutmaster.
Upgrade from Scoutmaster? At this level it is always a matter of diminishing returns. You have a great front end. You can change the sound but, not necessarily, better it for your stated budget. If you like the VPI sound I believe you would need to go to the HR6 or HRX to ... |
