| Tubes or simply the characteristic of the Pre-amp? I've owned both and the Line 1 is more neutral sounding than the Quicksilver (less tube sounding). My guess is that is the difference you are hearing. Tubes do make a difference but I don't believe the two preamps will ever sound alike. | |

| Quad 909 It is a good amp and will drive your speakers easily. Tube like? I don't know but it has a smooth presentation with excellent bass and an extented top end. I can't speak for long term reliability. It is a British design manufactuered in China. | |
