Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma
Dear chakster, what you overlook is difference between zero (0)points on the record surface between those two geometries.Bearwald has the best áverage values for all surface placeswhile Stevenson has better value for the inner groves. You mayhave ...
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma
advanced&karl_desch, Assuming that you are not familiar withArche you can buy extra insert pieces on which the cart is installed. This way you can use the frame as base and pre-adjust as manycarts as you like. It is like owning many headshells ...

Dear dover, what does ''I have acute angina'' means for andeaf person? Some foreigners among us have no idea why the doctor ''in casu'' lost his ,uh, license.

Dear chakster, the assumption that manufacturer ''knows better''is based  on sand. By Ikeda's FR-64 S the offset angle is 21.930 while the optimal offset angle is 22.421. By overhang the valuesare 15.948 (Ikeda) and optimal 16.863. Being member of...

This looks like ''back to front'' causality. From effect to the cause. In some sense one can ask the right cart for the given tonearm butthe right cart for an TT is curious. As far as I know only our Lewcan have this this problem because of the num...

In the article written by Kessler and Pisha (Audio, Januari 80)''Tonearm geometry and setup'' there is an chart with all adjustmentparameter for the most tonearms of this time . The possible errorsby the construction are also mentioned. The most e...

Speaking about confusion, The effective length is 246 mm.
Fidelity Research FR64s Headshell dilemma
karl_desch, I think that you are confusing ''effective length'' with''overhang''. Effective length is the distance between the stylus and the pivot which is by Bearwald 231, 5 mm. On your Ortofon headhshell there are slots along which you can move...

Addition, Typical example of referential opacity is Orsonic. There are 3 versions : AV-1 ; AV 11 and AV 101. Those are 3different ''animals'' to which is referred with the same name.So those who don't like ''Orsonic'' probably mean the first lightv...

Referential opacity. How does one know that ''Ikeda headshells'' are Ikeda's? How does one know that retip by Van den Hul isdone by Van den Hul? As we should know no cart producerproduce his own cantilever/stylus combo. Why should this bethe case ...
ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER?
While cardani was faster I hope to compensate by being smarter.I ordered  via my brother Don both styli 26 and 27 . I  own twoADC 26 and will keep the one with better stylus. The other willcompensate the total cost. Smart or not?

Not only geometry but also the arm mass is important. For thisaim you have two possibilities. The added counterweight (170g)as well the headshell weight. To reduce  arm mass lighterheadshells as well lighter weight (than 250 g standard) canbe used...
ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER?
Dear chakster, also ''exotic'' MM's are MM's. I am sure that youwill have no problem if, say, AT 170-180 styli will cost even morethan$500 (grin). Our Mexican friend (the fast one) mentioned ''edr 9''. I never succeed to get one when this one was ...
