best bookshelf speaker for a Naim system
Proac tablettes or Soliloqy 5.0s both sounded great when I heard them.
Bow Wizzard vs Naim CD5, Linn, RA, FMJ
BTW, as a follow up to the above, I find it very difficult to hear any differences between a CD 3.5 and a CD5. You might consider a "pre-owned" 3.5 and Flat-cap. All the sound at half the price if you ask me.

My ID suggests that I am biased. That said, if PRaT (pace, rhythm, and timing) are important to you, Naim is your best bet. However, I would suggest adding a flat-cap (powersupply) to the CD5 for best sound, well worth the added $. Nothing (NOTHIN...
Best 3-way or 4-way speaker under $15K
How about the Proac response 2.5? Yes, I know its NOT a three way speaker. However, they sound wonderful, have the seamless presentation of a two-way, image like monitors, and give you extension all the way to 20hz. Best of both worlds.
If you could remaster three cd's...
George Benson-"The other side of Abbey Road", Van Morrison-"Moondance", Oasis "What's the Story Morning Glory?"
What about Meadowlark?
To add to Sedond's write-up, I also like proacs alot, however feel there is a huge difference between the Kestral and the Shearwater. I personally don't like the Kestral and feel the Shearwater compares VERY well to the Proac 2.5s. It must also be...
New Visitor Confused Over Upgrade
P.S. As far as completing post graduate (by correspondence no less)work in EE and knowing how to solder, I can paint with my toes and burp the Star Spangled Banner. So there!!!
New Visitor Confused Over Upgrade
You can have your ears irrigated by any competent physician. As for knowing how electronics "work", I or for that matter, just about anyone associated with this board could probably tell you that one's relative of engineering knowledge or any asso...
for $700 - 1box or 2 box dgtl playback?
GEMINI, trust your own ears first and I think you will come to this conclusion...ONE BOX! I have never heard a transport, dac, "digital lens", sonic binary filtering resequencing turbocharged algebraic jitter reducing blah, blah, blah,.....combina...
the best CD player under $1k?
Brando, do yourself a favor and listen to a Rega Planet. I would say "hands down" this is the best player under a grand. Very musical and detailed without taxing your ears. The new model retails for $950, but you can find a demo or used one for ar...
AC line conditioners - Need Help
Changlightspeed power conditioners are the only ones I have heard that don't restrict dynamics in any way and do what most CLAIM to do. Their basic model for $300 is the best bang for the buck IMHO. Go to their website www.changlightspeed.com to g...
Rega Planet vs Cal Audio Labs Icon MK II
Ken, first off, beware of anyone telling you what something SOUNDS like! Only your ears are attached to your cerebral cortex and can tell you. Secondly, don't worry about not being all that familiar with high end. I find that the most virgin ears ...
Soliloquy subwoofer
Have listened quite a bit. A friend of mine is a dealer. Integrates very well with their small speakers. Very, very well I might add. Sounds very good for the price, nice extension without that "bass all over the place". However, the driver tended...
Meadowlark Heron i's, vs Shearwater HR's
I am one of those folks that believes yous have to spend ALOT of money to get a three way speaker right. Have heard both, and the Shearwater to me, is more seamless, disappears better, and just plain sounds better than the Heron. It is a great spe...
The best CD Player for the money
Under $1,000, the Rega Planet hands down. You can find one used for about $500 and be happy. The new model Planet just went up in price to about $950 so anything used might represent good value. Have heard alot of players and if the rest of your s...
