Full range vs monitors with sub
HSU and Rythmik for American sub companies, SVS and PowerSoundAudio are also good. Is your budget $3000 total for speakers and subs (or just speakers if going towers)? Dual Rythmik L12’s and a Selah Anniversario (custom assembled in the US) woul...
DCS Rossini dac owners
Since USB is reclocked anyway, the only benefit an external clock would be is more accuracy, and seeing as how even <$500 DACs have clocks that are way better than needed, anything more expensive that benefits from an external clock should be c...
Yggdrasil or iFi pro dac

b&w 800 d3’s
I did at my local MDC with the McIntosh gear worth almost the same as the speakers and the room had some treatment.  I heard nothing wrong with them, which is good. But, I didn’t feel it was worth the price of a well-equipped 2019 Honda Accord.  $...
Focal Kanta 2
Since someone else’s setup in a different room placement/dimensions/etc and their equipment. are gonna have huge factors, let’s just go off measurements:Decently efficient but your amp must be able to handle 4ohm with ease (at least 1.5x the watta...
Streamer upgrade recommendations
BlueSound is great.  Going off measurements from ASR, the Synchro-Mesh does reduce jitter for cheaper DACs (he tested a Schiit Modi 2), but great DACs are gonna internally reclock anyway, so unless the incoming jitter is so high that the DAC loses...
Ribbon midrange pros and cons
@larry5729 Those are AMTs not ribbons. @vinnydabully The BG Neo planar midranges are real good, Philharmonic uses the Neo 8 in their tower speaker. http://www.philharmonicaudio.com/phil3.html I also saw it being used in a speaker when I went t...
Need Help
Woah, woah, woah, @millercarbon, spending $1K on interconnects for a $3000 system? If so, those priorities are so messed up.  Speakers should never be less than 1/2 the total budget (unless buying used).  @kdogone, assuming $3000 is total, I would...
Power Cable Suggestions Please For Integra Receiver
What are you trying to fix/improve? Do you think the cable is not well shielded and letting in EMI? If you are having ground loop issues, you can get a power conditioner or something. A power cable carries no sound, if just supplies wattage, a $20...
Need Help
$3000 budget for all 3 things (speakers, sub, and receiver), or $3000 for just the receiver?
Is Pre-Amp needed
@sthlm78  Based on my limited experience, preamp is most important part after your speakers.  I’d go:  1) Speakers  2) Placement/positioning 3) Room treatment 4) Power amp 5) Pre-Amp / DAC
Budget speaker options, help needed.
Materials hardly tell much, you can easily have a smooth sounding metal dome.  I say that Q Acoustics makes better speakers for the money than Paradigm.
Is Pre-Amp needed
A preamp can never make the sound more accurate, it can only degrade (it has its own frequency response, THD, etc.), though the degradation is usually not much of an issue for any good one. Now, volume control and voltage gain are what many pre-a...
Digital clock - any recommendations?
@folkfreak If you think a multi-thousand dollar CD player has such issues, you’d be mistaken (or the product is garbage). https://www.stereophile.com/content/marantz-sa-11s2-reference-sacdcd-player-measurementsRepeating the test with the Marantz...
Digital clock - any recommendations?
The fact that the clock is external and thus needs a relatively long cable to connect is defeats any benefit in the increased accuracy. Even if the clock is better, the internal clock of the Marantz using a very short cable will be much better. A...
