Impedance switches on a Jolida JD 9II Perhaps this is addressed in the Audiokarma thread, but the capacitance can also be set to zero by setting all the pf switches to off. If you had a cart rated at 100 pf, it might sound best with the setting at zero.

AC outlets Another thing to consider is if you will like any kind of plating on your outlets (or cord ends for that matter). My preference is for the Maestro which has no plating. To my ear it is more natural sounding than any type of plated outlet that I ha...
Upgrade cartridge or something else? First, thanks to everyone who actually stayed on topic.Next, just a reminder that the table in question is a friend's table, not mine.I appreciate those who have been able to respond with simple answers to a simple question instead of wanting to g...
Upgrade cartridge or something else? I want to add a little clarity to the "something else" question. What I was after is, where is the smarter expenditure? Should he upgrade the cart or do something else to this turntable or move up to a higher level table?
Jolida JD-9 phono pre-amp dip switch settings Sorry, I misstated the idea. After re-reading the info for my Chinook pre, their example takes a cart spec'ed at 150pf and subtracts the cable rating, say, 90pf resulting in 60pf. So the start point in the example would be either 47pf or 100pf in ...
Jolida JD-9 phono pre-amp dip switch settings Don't forget to add in the capacitance of the phono cables. The phono pre is seeing both the cable and cartridge capacitance. Beyond that you should set it by ear after picking your starting point. BTW, even though it is not stated by Jolida, the ...
Can AC Outlets really make a difference? Here's another vote for the Cruze First Maestro outlet. Something else that might matter to you is that some high end outlets are cryo treated which, you may or may not like the effect of cryo.
Not Thrilled with Vandersteen 2CE Sigs - where is the first place to work on? It's all in equipment matching and synergy. This is not a new idea. My experience with those exact speakers is a friend's system. Everything that I have to say here is obviously limited to his room and system layout limitations (meaning speaker po...
Opinions on differing power cable for amp and preamp I agree with much of what millercarbon says. I am pleased for him that he has found cables that provide really good beautiful balance in sound that suit his sense of hearing, perceptions and preferences.I do indeed live in a different universe th...
Opinions on differing power cable for amp and preamp kingbr, my suggestion was about a used Super mm cord. The mm series was the third generation from Transparent. The Premium mm2 was from the fourth generation of product. The mm2 would be a step up compared to the mm series (often unofficially call...
Opinions on differing power cable for amp and preamp Opinions? Ok, first I have no opinion about your specific components. My opinion about power cords in general is that they are the most important cables in the system and that they are often very component dependent. A particular cord can work wel...
How do you avoid buying new LPs that sound just like CDs? Regarding the European labels mentioned (there are others also), they are what are called "public domain" record companies. Due to the nature of Europe's copyright laws, a lot of music, such as 1960's jazz, is now in the public domain so, anybody ...
Which integrated amplifier . Maybe you could work out a deal for something with TMR Audio for an agreeable trade. |
