Musical Fidelity Trivista 300
Hi Proacl I feel for you. There is nothing worse than waiting for a piece of equipment and than it arrives damaged. I actually had a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista and I can remember that one set of audio inputs were broken. I looked into getting it f...
Looking to Upgrade and enter Hi-Fi world
Hi Fernandoea, It sounds like you really like the Electra's, so why not just get them. The amount of money your going to spend on evaluating other speakers which you may or may not like will cost you in the end. No offense to Drmoles, but just bec...
From Krell to McIntosh - Anyone?
Hi Sean, I personally do not think there is a middle ground in audio equipment. It's like what you said (right wing or left wing), either you like it or don't. With me, when I demo equipment, I usually hear two things. Detail and Presentation. Det...
Looking to Upgrade and enter Hi-Fi world
Hi Fernandoea, I know what you mean by the Merry Go Round. I started the same way you did about 7 years ago. I started with a $600 B&K set up and I have evolved up through the ranks to a B&W/McIntosh set up. I would say through the years I...
Looking to Upgrade and enter Hi-Fi world
Hello. To answer your questions, "Is it realistic to think that I could find a pair of used Electra Be's for that budget" My answer would be if your willing to wait, every now and than on Audiogon, you will find amazing deals, another idea is with...
From Krell to McIntosh - Anyone?
I don't get the attraction to Krell. I have owned a number of Krell products including their SACD Standard, 400xi Integrated and have demo-ed the Krell Resolution 1. I understand and respect that music equipment is like art and different people he...
Opinion on McIntosh MCD 201 SACD player
The McIntosh MCD-201 seems to be getting mixed reviews. Some people love it and have actually compared it too the MCD-1000/MDA-1000 combo, while others say as above that it's noisy, takes a long time to read discs etc.. I personally have heard thi...
Advice: My first SACD?
When I got my Sony SCD-1 player, the first SACD I put in was Charlotte Church's Enchantment. I picked Track 6, The Flower Duet. It sounded awesome! Mariah Carey's #1's is another good one that shows of the range in her voice. I've also enjoyed lis...
Is the Sony TA-E1 worth considering?
I had the opportunity to listen to the TA-E1 when it first came out in Chicago at the Sony Store about 6 or 7 years ago. Unfortunately many years have passed but as I recall it was a great piece. I had the chance to buy the TA-E1 a few months ago ...
B&W Nautilus 800 vs 802D
Thanks for the responses. It's interesting that when people talk about the new Diamond series for the 802D's, most are in awe with the tweeter's performance. Having owned the original 802N's, I didn't think the tweeter was lacking imaging or detai...
Where to see Audio in Manhattan
I have had a different experience than Bemoptil123 at Stereo Exchange, unless the store has changed dramatically in the last few weeks. When I was in there, they had lot's of McIntosh, Classe, B&W, Meridian, Jeff Rowland and Sonus gear. The ke...
B&W Nautilus 800.....where's the bass?
I agree with JPPENN, unfortunately you can't get a pair of $16,000 reference speaker's to run with Adcom amplification. I tried doing what your doing, I had a McIntosh C200, B&W 802's, a Sony SCD-1 and I tried to cut a corner by running cheap ...
Opinions on the Mac MA 2275?
I had the opportunity to stop by Stereo Exchange in NYC. A great store. In one of the demo rooms. They had three different McIntosh/ Sonus combo's. These consisted of 1. A Mcintosh C45/ Mc-252/ MVP-861/ Sonus Cremona 2. McIntosh C200/ Mc-501's/ MV...
B&W Signature 805 vs 802 D???
I had a pair of regular 802N's. I wanted to see if I could save some money and upgrade my CD player by going down to the 805 SIG's. I was sorry I did. Even while using a sub with the 805 SIG's, The 802's just seems to have better imaging and overa...
Best Match for Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista Integrat
I just bought a Tri-Vista and I have a McIntosh MVP-851 (semi-universal player). The two actually sound good together; especially with red book CD's. The 851 unfortunately will not play back SACD's. Thanks
