Audioquest custom made triple weave design power cable (Storm Series). Read on another forum from an AQ dealer - there will be a "Firebird" model just below the Dragon. Also a mix of silver/copper. But the indication is that it's still a very big price jump over a Hurricane (i.e. more than 2x cost for 2.0m lengths). ...
What is the most $ you have spent on vinyl? I’ve hit the 150-200 range, per single record, at least a few times now. Stuff like clean original pressings of Alice in Chains, Megadeth, the original press of "Into the Wild" soundtrack, etc. And several times I’ve hit the 80-115 range - e.g. ve...
VPI Prime or Scout or ??? When starting out in analog, always go a level higher (or two!) than you initially planned for. Prime or Prime Signature.
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord? @celander Well said. Especially since this behavior has become a proven pattern, always with bad ending. Preying on hope and goodwill, time after time, since there are always enough nice people to take advantage of.
Audioquest WEL innerconnects are the older models the same as current model? To be perfectly honest, yeah, I kinda felt that two pairs of WEL interconnects in my system was a bit too much, contributing to a slight overall analytical feeling. I ended up combining Wild Blue Yonder RCA (warmer) with WEL XLR in my main system ...
Turntable isolation As others have mentioned, the spring and mass system has to be properly designed for it to effectively isolate. I still have an old VPI HW19 (original, not a later Mk X or Jr. version) in a closet, that I never bothered to hook up. It uses springs...
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord? Yep exactly - "check’s in the mail", but continue to hold out hope with absolutely no proof of anything actually happening other than a never ending buffet of apology/excuse/new promises/threat world-salads from the least credible of sources. Unfo...
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord? So we’re gonna jump on d2girls, but give Mr. Shifty a pass on his histrionic post mixing excuses, apologies, and threats? That’s cookie cutter behavior of a you-know-what.I guess in his world view, burning peoples’ money is A-OK, totally not nefar...
SOTA vs VPI (or stick with my Rega?) Congrats!! That is a great table. The Regas look really nice too, but the SOTA is a more complete solution with built-in isolation and exchangeable arm boards. What wood finish did you get?
Have DAC’s improved for Redbook CD playback? DACs are amazing. Always making huge strides with each new generation and new "flavor of the month", yet perpetually sounds "almost as good as vinyl, for real, this time".To be fair, some reasonably priced DACs do sound pretty decent these days.
Clearaudio Universal- anyone heard?? Thanks @marco1 , I'll give that a try!I still run a Cadenza Bronze on my SOTA Nova / Fidelity Research FR64fx deck, where it sings just beautifully. I haven't tried it on my Universal yet, but I'd think chances are good it would make a great match...
Clearaudio Universal- anyone heard?? LOL 10 years and no answers? :( I’ve been running a 12", VTA Universal on my Clearaudio Innovation Master for a year. I also have a Graham Phantom Supreme on the same table, and Fidelity Research FR64fx on a SOTA Nova. As usual, cartridge matching...
SOTA vs VPI (or stick with my Rega?) @gritter2 It’s always very hard to separate a table’s sound from the arm, cartridge and phono stage combination. But I’ve used the SOTA over 10 years, with several various cartridges and stages. The FR64fx arm has been a constant, though. The Orig...
Audioquest WEL innerconnects are the older models the same as current model? Well said @folkfreakI too enjoy my WEL sigs - no issues with their performance, price structure, or how they’re made. They do it for me.
Audioquest WEL innerconnects are the older models the same as current model? Besides the better looking connectors, the braid has also changed from all soft black to a nice weave of the soft black and harder black nylon. The old connectors were from Bocchino audio. The sound quality, design, and overall quality should be v... |
