Why are my SF Venere S Speakers not sounding as warm?
Since you are now going be using your 6012 as a pre-amp, you will need a set of interconnects to connect to the Krell.  Now, unless you get very good interconnects, you may actually experience a LOSS of audio quality in terms of fine detail, textu...
Dynaudio C20 vs other monitors in the 4-7k range
Listen to a set of Legacy Audio Calibre.
full-scale orchestral music—best test of speakers’ potential?
IMO, well recorded big band music is also a good test.  You have brash trumpets, saxes, and trombones.  Also, big drum sets with lots of cymbals.
Amp/Preamps vs. High end AV Receivers
I always like to get a mid level AVR that has analog pre-outs for plenty of channels, then add an separate power amp.  In the OP's case, that could be a 5-channel amp.  It will, however, cost some money for decent interconnects.  Like some others,...
Amp/Preamps vs. High end AV Receivers
Well, I’m still using my TX-NR809 in my bedroom system. The thing is a 40 pound beast, and I’m not sure you can get much better audio quality with any of these newer AVRs. And 4K capability is not really required in an AVR if you get a UHD Blu-ray...
Why are my SF Venere S Speakers not sounding as warm?
A link to a pic of your room would help a lot to improve and facilitate good recommendations for you.
Why are my SF Venere S Speakers not sounding as warm?
If you are buying Sonus Faber level gear from this dealer, they should be willing to go to your house and evaluate your listening space and try to find out why it's sounding bad.
Why are my SF Venere S Speakers not sounding as warm?
These dealers know how to set up speakers to sound their best.  Also, what electronics were they using?  Were they running them off of an AVR?  They may have been using power conditioning and high end amplification. Also, how big was the room the ...

High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
Thanks, Robert, but I asked about an affordable option. Looks like the only possibility for me would be Reveal XLR.  But how does its sound quality compare to original CT-1?
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
I've had a set of the original CT-1 interconnects(RCA connectors) for several years now.  Having just procured my first separate pre-amp, I now have another connection to complete.  I will use the XLR connections to the power amp.  What is the mos...
PS Audio Stellar Gain DAC/Pre-amp as first foray into separate pre-amp?
@ auxinputThanks.  It is a brand new unit.  My signal is going through an additional set of interconnects, as I indicated.  The interconnect cables between the Denon and the Stellar Gain is High Fidelity CT-1.  But I've already been using them fo...
XLR interconnect for new DAC/pre-amp to power amp--suggestions please for $500 or less
@ stringreen, et. al., So, I got my Stellar Gain DAC/pre-amp set up, with the Silnote Morpheus Reference Classic XLR interconnects going to my Krell power amp.  I'm playing CDs on my Oppo UDP-203 universal disc player, using the coaxial output int...
PS Audio Stellar Gain DAC/Pre-amp as first foray into separate pre-amp?
I just got my new PS Audio Stellar gain set up and installed the Silnote Morpheus Reference Classic XLR cables. So far, I've only listened to it in Home Theater bypass mode, but I will say, in that scenario, I feel like I've lost a bit of c...
Krell Owners: Is XLR really superior to RCA?
@ threeeasyThe reason I used a RCA to XLR adapter is that my Krell power amp has ONLY XLR inputs.  So I had to use an adapter.
