VPI Scout Set up I have the Scout and the Dynavector 10X5 high output MC cartridge along with Vincent PHO-700 phono section. I had a dealer mount and set up the cartridge but with the right commonly available tools it should not be hard to do yourself. It comes wi...
Paradigm and Revel Thank you Bob!I think I just need to experience more speakers. Ultimately it comes down to listening. I'd certainly get the Harbeth or Magicos I mentioned above if they sound great to me even just as 2 way speakers. My current Paradigm Studio 100...
Paradigm and Revel bob_reynolds, I surely am not as technically knowledgeable as many here so my question is how come some great speakers like the Harbeth 30.1 and the Magico S1 MkII sound so great? Is it the enclosure and crossover expertise? Also, if drivers dedic...
Paradigm and Revel I guess I don't understand why you see Revel as a higher end product than Paradigm. They along with Focal and many others seem to occupy a high volume retail niche. They all make excellent products in this price range.
Paradigm and Revel A 2.5 way vs a 3 way does not mean one is compromised vs the others. There are plenty of high end 5 figure speakers that use 2 way designs. They are not compromised. Magico for one has a speaker in the $15-20K range that is a two way. Not one revi...
Paradigm and Revel I don't think you can make a blanket statement about any speaker company. I have Paradigm Studio 100 speakers and I would not say they are bright at least with my electronics (tube integrated). I have heard Revel's comparable speakers and they sou...
Good source for TT dustcover?? Another vote for JMK displays. They make a beautiful custom dust cover for my VPI scout. It's flawless. And their prices are very reasonable.
Jack White pressing LP's in the Motor City I have a Third Man Records pressing bought in their Detroit retail store. This was pressed in Nashville. It's a terrific recording. Very quiet and dynamic.
Has anybody heard this newer brand of turntable? Shineola Runwell out of Detroit, MI USA? I hear this a lot about Shinola watches. I don't understand why. Shinola watches are very well made. I've seen the process and the QC. Yes most parts are imported but that keeps the price relatively low. Most of their watches are in the $600-$900....
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better? Really good thread. While digital can be done well for far less than a good table, cartridge and electronics it still to me sounds a bit artificial with a lack of depth. Perhaps it's because I started my audio trip prior to the invention of the CD...
Has anybody heard this newer brand of turntable? Shineola Runwell out of Detroit, MI USA? Not sure what you want to know that's not in the article. This is Shinola's first turntable and much of the tech is from VPI. IMO it's a bit expensive but the Shinola brand is trendy. Shinola is primarily in the lower end of the luxury watch marke... |
