Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
considering that the question has nothing to do with audio, why are there so many responses ?

Burned out Audiophile - Trying to Find some Zen
it's all psychological. some have a strong need for achievement. audio is one hobby where one can attempt to achieve something.it's probably not the gear but rather the praise from others that satisfies this need.most people are other directed and...
Most "Musical" sounding speaker cable under $1000
this is another of many posts asking for the "best component" at a price point.the number of suggestions is small, relative to the total number of available products.therefore, the best approach is listen to many speaker cables, probably sourced f...
Berkeley DAC Series 1, anything better 2.5K$
it would be useful for those who connote that one dac is superior to another to state the reasons for their statements.this is a problem for many threads, in which component comparisons are made.most statements are anecdotal and unless a thorough ...
Have you tried SILCLEAR from Mapleshade?
hi geoffkait:unless the "treated" pair creates a roundness in the treble frequencies, you will lose the bet.of course, there is a problem of distance. you are, i believe, located on the west coast, while i live in ny.
Have you tried SILCLEAR from Mapleshade?
i cannot confirm the "break-in" period for the silclear in my friend's system.however, as a risk taker, i would propose a wager. conduct a blind test using two identical pairs of interconnects, and i would bet that i would discern a brightness, af...
differense between gold pcord & silver
you won't necessarily discern differences between cable(s) on the basis of their metal structure.thus to say that there is a stereotypical "copper" sound, "silver" sound or "gold" sound is not a valid statement.
Have you tried SILCLEAR from Mapleshade?
my friend used it on his tube sockets. he reported that his system sounded very bright and thin. i have not and will not use it.
Does it bother you?
obviously, the recording process introduces distortion, and a reduction in the accuracy of timbre. you are at the mercy of the recording process when you purchase a cd or lp.the recording and speaker are the two variables that still need the most ...
Have You Tried Cabledyne Interconnects?
here is what i would do. see if any of the cable products are selling on audiogon.then decide if if the outlay is worth the risk of dissatisfaction with cable.hopefully, if this occurs, you can sell them for a small loss.also, if the manufacturer ...
Power Cables diminishing returns
the concept of diminishing returns ia very subjective and an economic assessment.i don't think a mercedes is worth $50,000, while some car buyers probably do.the notion that a $1000 power cord does not provide twice the performance as a $500 one i...
Comments pls.: TEAC vs Marantz CD/SACD players
an oppo 83se, without a tube analogue stage, sounds thin, by comparison. i sold the oppo and bought another one-- a modwright modified oppo 83se.
