ARC 100.2 Vs McCormack DNA-1
As you are happy with the DNA-1, have you considered having Steve upgrade it? There are some pretty positive reviews on Agon regarding his upgrades to McCormack amplifiers. I'm sure he could fill you in on the improvements you could expect if you ...
SMc Audio VRE preamp anyone?
I have had mine since last December. I needed a 0 gain pre-amp to run with my high gain Yamamoto A-09S 300B amp to a pair of Zu Definition Mk II speakers. While this may sound like a somewhat unnatural pairing, I have been extremely pleased. As Tv...
Cary 306/200 - What next?
A year ago I upgraded from the Cary 306/200 to a ModWright Transporter. I have never had a second thought about the decision.
ASI Liveline...Burn-In Experience
I would recommend waiting until the 150 hour point to make your decision. You should have a good idea by then if it's what you are looking for. For me personally, in my system, this cable has made an emotional connection unlike anything I have hea...
ASI Liveline...Burn-In Experience
I have broken in and am using a balanced pair and an RCA pair of the interconnects. In my system I saw the same characteristics for both. Initially they were tonally correct, but restricted on the bottom end. At about 100 hours the bottom end was ...
What Solid State PreAmp?
Right in the middle of your price range is Steve McCormack's new VRE-1 pre-amp. The reviews have been positive and he offers a 30 day trial. After I sell some equipment later this year I plan on a demo myself.
The "Spoiler" with "Pace Car"
Detlof - It's been a couple of weeks since your initial post regarding the Spoiler with Pace Car. Any additional thoughts or comments? I will admit I found your write-up quite intriguing.
Cary 306-200 Mod - My Impressions
Oldpet - In late October or early November I saw that Dan Wright had a modified Cary 306-200 for sale on Audiogon. Based on that I contacted him via e-mail and we corresponded on the mods. I told him I was looking for a fuller, more relaxed sound....
Preamp Deal of the Century
I would also be interested in hearing a Supratek pre-amp if anyone in the Philadelphia area has one. I have a Joule Electra LA-150 pre-amp I would be willing to bring for comparison.
Merlin Mil. w/hybrid amps??
Brooks - I used to live in the Chicago area. Check out Holmes Audio (no affiliation). They are in the Downers Grove area right off I-355. The owner had a Joule Electra VZN-80 that he was using at home. They loaned it to me for the weekend along wi...
transport for my cal alpha 24/96 dac
You may want to consider modifying your Delta transport. I had mine upgraded by "Musical Concepts" 18 months ago. A tremendous difference, all in the positive direction. Much more transparency and low level detail.
Any others with Millennium II s ???
Sean - How are you doing? So what are your thoughts? I've had the Millenium DAC II for a few months. I think I was the first person to receive one after Rick put his own designed FET output in. My feelings are mixed. The vocals at times knock my s...
EVS Millennium DAC II
I received mine two weeks ago. I posted my review on Audio Asylum last night. It was a very positive review. I think Ric has a solid winner.

Anyone received a Millenium DAC II ??
I'm going to stick with the Millenium II for a couple of reasons. 1) I've waited this long, another few weeks is a drop in the bucket. Rick had already contacted me for my DAC specifics and payment method before the "Mel" incident. So I know I am ...
