Sugden/Allnic or Luxman L-509X?
I suggest the Allnic, I have had several of their units, both line stage and phono pre’s. They are truly world class components. They have tremendous after sale support and re-sale value. Hammertone Audio is a long term member here and will do any...
TriPoint Audio Grounding Devices
Why is cost so important when judging the piece being reviewed? What if it was free, would the nay-sayers be quiet? Members talk about something not being worth it, even if they haven’t tried it.  Look at the equipment I used in the review, use th...
Can AC Outlets really make a difference?
Yes, and 10 gauge dedicated circuits will make a difference also.Porter ports from Albert Porter of Porterhouse Audio is a good start, if you want a bigger difference get FURUTECH GTX, but they are about 4 times the price. Happy Listening!
Atma-sphere MP-3 Mk III vs Alnic L-10000 OTL linestage + Allnic phono aotl
I second dentdog on the Allnic H-7000 recommendation. I have one also, but I’ve had Allnic pre’s for 10 years, linestage and phono and they are quiet, versatile and very reliable. They work great with Atmasphere OTL amps also. I used an L-3000 wit...
How old are you?
64, and glad to hear I’m nowhere near the oldest. Grew up near Chicago and would go to concerts all over the area. Most memorable: ‘75 Who with Keith moon; ‘73 Wishbone Ash at the Kinetic Playground; Zappa on Mother’s Day several times at the Audi...
Final Retirement Amplifier-Class A-Upcoming Gryphon Essence Stereo vs Accuphase A75
Audio Brian,  Consider the other Swiss manufacturer that begins with a “D” and has a “Z” in the middle. You will find it worth every penny. Best within a certain budget is not necessarily the best. Bucket list material for sure, and remember, you ...
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles?
As usual you are ALL WRONG!     Just kidding.A person who enjoys music is a “music aficionado”A person who enjoys listening to music AND does something to make it sound better to their ears, is an “audiophile” no matter the format or system.A pers...
New upper trim level Corvette or seven year old used amps?
Thanks for the input. I wanted to be clear and I apologize for any confusion. I was using the Corvette as a unit of measure. Just a comparison of economics. It is a pretty cool car, but obviously some people disagree. Should I change the unit of m...
New upper trim level Corvette or seven year old used amps?
Is the song, “Ain’t it funny how girls get prettier ‘round closing time”?Okay, now we are on to boats. I have a Hobie 16 that I sail singlehanded on the trapeze, on a 20,000 acre lake, fun times ten. I also take my wife out on calmer days. My wife...
New upper trim level Corvette or seven year old used amps?
Millercarbon: wow touched a nerve, eh. You did not address my questions though. After just two years the GT40 engine was determined illegal by the FIA, so Ford pulled out. Where is the FIA based? Europe, where P and F cars are made. Why didn’t the...
New upper trim level Corvette or seven year old used amps?
A question to the Porschephiles:Why didn’t they go head to head with the Ford GT40 way back or more recently, the Audi R10 diesel? Instead they go to LMP2? Really? They always wimp out against dominating competition. They make great cars no doubt,...
New upper trim level Corvette or seven year old used amps?
MillercarbonCheck out the prices of a 1963 split window corvette, conversely look at the price of a 2019 Z06 corvette, there is a sad guy.in 1978 I bought a pair of Klipsch LaScala speakers for $1100, sold them 30 years later for $1100stereos hold...
Tammy Holt ......She's what holds it all together.......Never gives up
I agree with all of you, Tammy is awesome. My one thought is, seeing that she seems to be the person answering all my queries, is it like some current prolific authors. Is there more than one Tammy? Not trying to rain on the parade. Thanks Tammy, ...

alternative power supply for Garrard 301
I also use a Dobbins supplied Lorcarft PS unit on my 301 and am quite happy with it. I second Mike L's advice to contact Dobbins. The units he gets are not, IMO , over priced, compared to other alternatives. Good luck.
