Any love for Rogue Audio Apollo Dark monoblocks?
I listened to a pair of Rogue Apollo Darks connected to a pair of Vandersteen Quattro Wood Ct loudspeakers. All I can say is wow, what a beautiful combination. To me, the Rogue mono's sound wonderful.
SPEAKERS, SPEAKERS AND MORE SPEAKERS.. BUT NEED BASS.?
Yogiboy, You are correct that a sub needs to be separately amplified, ( powered sub) and use of a filter preferably 80hz. While I will agree that many people will run a sub passive or active, with no high pass filter, this is not the optimal way o...
SPEAKERS, SPEAKERS AND MORE SPEAKERS.. BUT NEED BASS.?
mental,"A decent two channel set up does not require sub...lulz"That's not entirely correct. While many speakers may not need the bottom octave support of a sub per se, ANY system will benefit from a sub (or two) as it will relieve the main amp of...
Weak link?
I too agree you have some decent components here. I also owned B&W 800 Series speakers. Liked them very much. About the only thing I can see as to what you have is go to the D3 800 Series? That to me would make the most logical difference, in ...
Compare Large Advent?
They do. No doubt....
Help me pick from my sub-$1200 shortlist
Another vote for the Vandersteen VLR. Earlier I suggested another bookshelf speaker system and had totally forgotten about the VLR. And I own Vandersteen Treo Ct's! I see you are leaning towards the Kef LS 50's. I think they are good speakers, but...
Any Audiophiles Here Have Experience with Hearing Aids?
I suffer from infrequent tinnitus. Also at various times in my life with vertigo also. Fortunately for me, it comes and goes. At it's worst, it makes listening sessions almost impossible. Good luck.

Help me pick from my sub-$1200 shortlist
Quad S-2. $1000
Interesting (or not) dilemma
Is carpeting out of the picture? It could help in a lot of areas of the sound. Or at least a large area rug?
This is juvenile...

Popular DAC that is known for its warm-ish sound?
Ayre CODEX.
What's your definition of analog smell?
My opinion of analog smell is a little different. To me, it is the smell of the inner cardboard sleeve of a 40 to 50 year old LP. One that had been in storage for most of it's life.
Best TT under $1k
BpolettiDid/are you running that AR ES1 turntable with the stock AR tomearm? I owned that table a long time ago with the stock arm and that table absolutely stunk with that arm. I also owned the Rega RP-6, completely stock and it ran all over that...
another what speaker cable for vandersteen
Agree with using Audioquest. I had MIT networked cables in my system, but when I got the Vandersteen's, these were the absolute poorest cables I could have used with them. As far as the up front sound of vocals you are experiencing  with your Vand...
