Seperate phono stage v.s. step up transformer
I agree the Musicdoc. I do not write much here but it is always when I need to ask a question. People here have helped me and are almost always friendly. The 4yanks person is right I think. There is no excuse for telling people they are wrong with...
Tube Discussion Microphonics?
I appreciate the responses and I will give my case in point. I recently bought a quad of 60's Telefunken 6922's for my linestage. They tested (16.0, 16.0), (15.5, 16.0), (16.0, 15.5), (15.0, 15.0). I had original Sovteks that sounded dry and did n...
Floorstanders over Suspended Hardwood-Help Please
Yeah, well I likely initiated your confusion by somewhat carelessly referring to my situation as suspended, walker of the swamp. Not actually suspended in the real sense of the definition. Thanks to all that have responded. I think I will try Bryhi...
Novice Question - Do I need a new cartridge?
If you did not tell them in advance to stay away from your table, you should fire yourself!Try to bend it back carefully with a Q-tip. The chance that it is ruined are not that large. If it snaps you will have at least tried.
Surprisingly good shipping option
It is often, by far, the cheapest option for overseas deliveries, too.
What am I going to do with all of this junk?
That old Sansui tuner ain't half bad. I'm sure you could find it an appreciative home.
Turntable Power Source Benefits
I hope your tongue was in your cheek, Jfrech. I reviewed the fine system of Albert and if it is really no fun and just average without the Walker, most of the rest of us are totally doomed, I must say!
Turntable Power Source Benefits
I will probably sound like a dope here, Albert, but when you say you use the Micro red from controller to motor, that must mean that your motor can accept an aftermarket PC. This would seem somewhat rare to me. Or, did you some how hard wire the m...
Turntable Power Source Benefits
So, Albert and Rcprince, and also thanks to everyone who has commented. Good stuff. Are you saying that you plug the Walker straight away into the wall using a preferred PC? What PC do you find works best in your case? What feet? Then would the tu...
Checking Anti-Skate?
In the old days a table manual always said to adjust the VTF to the mfg specs than use the same setting for anti-skate. Problem being that neither of the dials were very accurate.I use a test record but you can also come close by looking at the st...

Cleaning Records
There seems to be a lot of approaches to cleaning records. Some are sound and others are just downright destructive. I suggest checking out the thread on this site called "record-playing rituals". There is a debate as to whether using alcohol is a...
How do you get past the pops and hiss of LPs?
As a strong proponent of analog, who can also recognize the value of CD's in some cases, I can only say that I am reminded of this phrase when reading your posts Rockin, "with friends like this, who needs enemies?"Why do so many of these threads s...
What is the best Beatle Song
There is no definitive answer, but I will go with "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window"
