Lyra Kleos: tracking force/VTA/azimuth questions
Please keep an open mind on VTA Zach...The "magic 92 degrees" may not be obtainable from a positive VTA? Many samples of cartridge (not just Lyras) require a distinct "tail down" attitude. If I'm quoting JC correctly from the most recent 92d inspi...
Tonearms longer than 12 inches
Ah...not active links so cutting & pasting required....I'll save you the trouble, here's the advertising blurb :"The Clearaudio Unify is designed around a unipivot sapphire bearing that sits on top of a precision hardened steel spike. Other co...
Tonearms longer than 12 inches
Clearaudio have been making a 14" variant of this arm for a few years now....See :http://www.coolgales.com/store/cart.php?target=product&product_id=31&substring=
Enter The Raven The GT and 10.5
Now you are just trying to confuse us Elinor ;) :)I recall one distributor saying years ago that there was no such thing as an AC3. "It is a Raven AC whether single motored or 3", quoth the expert. It seems the Reviewers (and perhaps even the gene...
Turntable rumbling
Also, Davey, try having a look and seeing if the underside of the cart is "bottoming" on the record as you cue it?Just a thought...?
Turntable rumbling
Dear Davey,Is anything interfering with your turntable mechanically i.e. anything different such as heavy speaker cables touching the stand(?) or touching the cable feeds to your phono stage or turntable?Another possibility is temperature changes ...

Dear PcostaMany thanks for the link. :)Dear Goldeneraguy,Not to worry about the Raven sound experience - I own one already, albeit not with the 10.5 but a recent Phantom II :)Dear Elinor,Have you managed to do a side-by-side comparison of the 1.0 ...

Thanks for the recommendations Goldeneraguy... :)I'm in the UK BTW. I take it the Kuzma is out of production now?A question regarding your new T/t : The original Raven/s (One & AC) used a Delrin chassis with large circular stainless steel slab...

Goldeneraguy...Glad you mentioned that, I've been contemplating acquiring a Stabi Ref :) I'll probably stick with the Raven now :)
Enter The Raven The GT and 10.5
Dear Goldeneraguy,Regarding "Kuzma Reference" : is that a Stabi Reference you were referring to? On the new Raven-GT version I see TW is using a concealed/embedded motor akin to the Clearaudio Innovation.Interesting...Kind regards,
SACD vs Analog
Abronfer...I realise I may be offering conflicting advice but I would urge you not to get "hung up" on record cleaning issues at this stage.Although I'm an advocate of cleaning LPs I feel everything has its place. In the 1980s Linn used to argue c...
LP12 vs Classic III vs. ?? vs.??
Hi Theo,I'm one of many who did make the change from LP12 to unsuspended T/T (I chose the Raven One after listening to a fair number of them and getting nowhere). Part of the problem may be that if one is a longstanding LP12 user then the ear beco...
High End Hi-Fi like Drugs
Ah.....another of those D vs A threads... :)One of the interesting things I discovered about LP records – particularly by comparison to CD - was how seductive LPs could be….If I attempted to listen to a few unfamiliar new CDs in one session, withi...
Delos Loading
Agreed Miner42....this sounds pretty consistent with what Dealers recommend. My local Dealer asserted they would "never use a Lyra with less than 470 ohms", but it really depends on the sum of the capacitance of your phono stage, ext phono cable a...
Turntable, but which one?
Although I use the Raven One I also like the Avids. If I were planning to supersede the R1 it would probably be the Avid Acutus Reference. Even then I wouldn't be expecting a massive improvement... ;^)
